New 2010 Supersports owner
Hi All,
I've just become a member of the Bentley family having just purchased a 2010 Supersports in Ice White Metallic, what a car, its superb!!
Looking for a little advice really.
The car as full Bentley main dealer service history, it is due a service in the next month or two (even though only having done about 1500 miles since its last one) so I'm thinking of staying with main dealer to keep things right.
Does anyone out there have any thoughts on this, would going indie have a -ve affect on future resale values? I appreciate that main dealer is a few hundred £'s more each time but maybe worth paying if looking at the long term value?
Also has anyone had their Bentley "Terraclean" as thinking of putting mine through as now 9 years old & a high possibility of carbon build up, any comments are very welcome.
Thanks
Pete.

Greetings Pete!
Welcome to the Bentley forum. We're a very small but close knit community.
Would love to see pics of your car. Hope you post them here. What color interior? White looks superb on a GT!
If keeping records is important to you, the main dealer is probably the most valuable. Check with your inde. The better shops here in the US also keep service records and make them available for a comprehensive service history on the car at time of sale. It could be important whether you would sell privately someday, or trade in at a dealer. It is more difficult to say whether having the records for the next prospective owner is more valuable.
Here in the States, I've sold a few Marques in private sales over trade ins. I've reached a point sometime ago where I stopped keeping comprehensive service records. In my experience I've run into two types of buyers
The one who just wants the car
The one who wants to explore the entire history of the car in detail before considering a purchase.
Further on the second buyer. Usually a person wanting minute details of service and repairs also wants a comprehensive vehicle inspection (at the expense of my time to deliver the car to an inspection facility). Often too, they are looking at multiple possibilities. They are often pretty persnickety buyers.
My preference is the first type of buyer. I'll wait for him/her. I'll only talk history over my ownership, but I don't fall into the trap of overly examining the car either as often after that exercise as a seller, the buyer pursues another vehicle on his list anyway, so all I have as a seller is time wasted.
Sorry, that might sound cold, but I've found an abundance of both buyer types here so I wait for the first type and hasten along the second type.

Hi BWings,
Many thanks for your welcome!
Yes, I'll post some pics when I'm back from my holidays, I have only had the car 1 day, then went on holiday.................missing her!
The interior is black Leather/Alacantara with white quilted stitching, beautiful!
Your comments regarding your views on the inde or main dealer servicing are very welcome, its good hear from a seasoned owner. I'm probably going to go with main as I am a bit of a history/records freak, but I like to listen to other owners opinions. Your preference on buyer, like most things in life is personal choice & I respect that.
Looking forward to checking in with yourself again & other owners over the coming months!

Welcome to the club friend!
Keeping records really is on the owner to me. Yes the dealer will have them in the database, but going to a reputable indy you will have the receipts and they still will be in his/her database. The main reasoning will be price. If money is no problem, stay with the dealer. But we all just try to help each other save a little gas money for these beautiful cars 🤣. Some may tackle small stuff while others will take the whole engine out! As long as you have paperwork for work that was done, you should be fine. Just drive her like you stole her while at the same time pampering her. And that color combo sounds nice 👍🏾...can’t wait to see it.

Hi TeamJones1962
Thank you for the welcome & thread reply!
Yes, absolutely agree its on the owner to keep the records. Again I agree regarding price, but when a interim service from an inde is £499 as against £799 from a dealer my personal opinion is its worth the extra just to keep the main dealer history. I have to be honest here though if there was an inde already in the service book then I'd probably go inde, if that makes sense?
Oh yes I'd love money to be no problem, cause if that was the case I'd have purchased at 2017 Supersport!! However I am in the same club as most people I have some money but never enough!
I will indeed drive her like I stole her, whilst taking very good care of her.

Haven't tried Terraclean, but have used Techron FS cleaner with no ill effect. Perhaps a tad more mileage/ infinitesimally smoother. Use it on all my cars every year or so, regardless of mileage.
edit... should clarify that this was done at the repair shop using their high pressure machine... not the spray into air intake method I use on my lawn equipment, etc. at home.

Hi Sam08861,
Many thanks for your response.
I know that Terraclean use a high pressure machine connected direct to the engine so lot sounds much the same type of process.
The car has done 38,500 miles & as I've just purchased it, I think I will go ahead & get it done to see if any noticeable difference.
