Morning,

I successfully replaced the front struts, wishbones, brakes and rotors and they were working fine for the last couple of days but yesterday the car dropped on the passenger side to a very low position. It is so low that the tire is touching the body. Strangely, there is no warning light or message coming on the screen.

I am quite baffled and any suggestions or ideas would be very welcome. Thank you

Check the height sensor link to the lower control arm. If it becomes disconnected the computer doesn’t know any different.

checked the height sensors and it is ok. Also checked the connections of the new struts and did a foam test for leaks and there seems to be no leak.
wondering what else could it be?
the vag is giving a message of leak detected.
Any ideas?

I would guess the next step would be to check the compressor. Also did you check for leaks at the top of the strut or where the line goes in?

Hello Biswajitdg,
Give us some info, where did you acquire the struts, did you put the vehicle into lift mode, then jack mode, which in doing so would lift the whole vehicle to its highest point, and jack mode would hold it there while locking out the compressor and level control, then which ever side falls would indicate leaking strut, air supply connection at strut, air line itself, or the air line connection at the control valve block located on the compressor.

...

After successful replacing the strut 4 years ago, I have an issue with the front end of the car raised. (Does not drop to normal height)
The dealer quoted $4200 to replace right high sensor with alignment. (Sigh!)
Damn - thinking of doing this myself as well. has anyone else been brave enough to attempt this?

Is the part you are talking about the Ride Height Sensor, those are about $200 from Flying Spares and much less for a generic. For the 2005 that I have, you just remove a number and a couple of screws to get it off. Also is the setting possibly just too high and do you have the Ross Tech to adjust the height? Lastly, do you have the IETIS to see how to do it, also from Flying Spares. This will give you the instructions on how to repair the earlier cars and the parts listing.

Here is the part I am thinking of as the Ride Height Sensor. Is this what you are being quoted to have replaced?

thanks for the assistance.
Bentley quoted over the phone, so do not have the part information but will ask.
I am not understanding how can their pricing be so off? $200 for a part and $4000 for labor?
I wonder whether Bentley gives pricing directions on service or whether it is a free for all
