Bentley GT Nokian winter tyres

Does anyone have any experience with Nokian winter tyres. I see some have used the Hakkapalitta ones but I’m looking at the Nokian WR A4. They do a 20” version with a 102 load rating, W speed rating and they’re also XL (extra load reinforced). I’ve used Nokian winter tyres on other cars and have always been impressed with them. So wondering if they’ll suit the Bentley.

I use Dunlop’s winter sports as per handbook on 19 wheels in the Swiss Alps . 275/40/19
Thats what the handbook suggests .They are rated to ( from memory) to about 160/170 mph not 196 like the Pirelli’ summer tyres .As if that’s an issue !
They actually give a nice softer ride btw and no noticeable increase in noise .

I need the fall back of fitting chains if necessary.

Chains don’t like big wheels and lower profiles if the aspect ration is too low they will destroy you alloys .

The OEM spec Dunlop’s work fine .

Thanks for the info. What’s the load rating on those? 102? Haven’t seen anything higher.

Thanks Rico. I’m based in the U.K. as well but do a fair bit of travel to Europe and Scotland and have always been swapping to winter tyres around this time of year.
Mine’s a 2007 - just collected today - so the owners handbook I feel is a bit outdated in terms of tyre specs ;-).

the handbook mentions that tyres should be Bentley specs but I’ve never come across that designation on sites like mytyres and oponeo. Is it sufficient to have the matching size, load, speed ratings or am I missing something?

This is a message to let you know that the immature name calling and disrespect of other members is getting tiresome. It will stop or blocks from the Bentley section will ensue. The way I see it is there is plenty of blame to go around.

Answering the Q I presume directed at me @ post 4

Load rating 105 , speed V .

Perhaps thsts why the hand book recommends them ? Dunplop winter sports because of the 105 load rating .
You aren’t going to be going fast enough to exceed the speed V .

If you plan on deviating from the handbook recommendations of spec for what ever reason ( out of production as a example) i would suggest consult your insurance company as some some take the view ( rightly or wrongly ) changing the wheels and tyres outside the manufacturers recommend is a “ modification “
without the underwriters consent this could lead them to refuting a claim .

As for there performance I can confirm the D winter sports are fit for purpose
The Bentley recommendation are on here .

Double checked the owner's manual and see image for what is recommended.
I checked a few car insurance company web pages and it seems as long as the size, load and speed rating is respected, there is no need to report anything to the insurance company.
Also found some info here (page 3 of that PDF): http://pmcuk.com/wp-content/uploads/...trix-iss81.pdf

After a bit of back and forth with Bentley and the main tyre makers - pulling teeth comes to mind - I finally settled on a set of Pirelli Sottozero II 275 35 R20 102 W.
These are the official Bentley approved ones for that rim size.
Will get them next week and will report back after the winter ;-)
