Hi - very sorry for the slow reply. I hope you got your issue sorted?
Mine is now sorted but was very painful at the time as the so called "specialist" independent I used damaged the manifold in trying to replace the sensor - then tried to bill me £7k for an engine out repair.
I have a close friend who has several high end sports cars - mainly McLaren - who uses a race engineer when he has any issues. Works out of a barn in the middle of nowhere. Absolute genius. Sorted it for 10% of the quoted repair cost.

Im having the exact same issue as you. I'm based in Kent and was wondering if you could share the details of the mechanic?
I'm being held at ransom by an independent specialist in London who wants to remove the engine. the story is uncanny- a £2k quote is now an engine out job...
I'd be very grateful for any help you can provide.

I've had some very good news today, which is - as suggested by some very helpful members, for which thanks - my mechanic has found an alternative to taking the engine out to replace the sensor. He solved the issue by engineering a clamp to fit the part into the place where the screw thread had failed.

If anyone else has this issue then I know of a man in Kent, UK who can help at a fraction of the cost of the engine out option.

HI - would appreciate some views or help.
I purchased an 07 Continental GT in August and was/am very happy with it.
A dash light came on just after purchase.
I had this checked by an independent and the exhaust gas temp sensor was faulty. It had seized.
In removing it and seeking to replace the garage were unable to refit due to a broken screw thread. The initial quote of £2k for the work has increased to £7k as the engine now has to come out.
Has anyone experience of this or know a work around. Another independent has verified the problem and said the engine has to come out so this is a last - and desperate - appeal to see if this issue has been faced by any other members, or if there is another way of solving.... Thank you....

@Johnny Hotspur GT - it looks like all who said they managed to avoid the engine out have no mechanical details how they solved the issue - probably you have the clue cause you saw every mm of the car on your eyes - i heard about broken rods , specual adapters to put there a new rod etc from other cars but here someone said a mechanic had to build specjal clamps etc - you have any imagination what was done to solve without engine out?

Yep. Just seen it and looked at the website. Seem to be more of a race car thing but I'll contact them anyway. Also seen a few posts elsewhere saying that the circuit board is the issue and not the sensors. It's possible to I believe to just change the board.
