Two Batteries - Use only OEM?

Two Batteries - Use only OEM?
The CGT has two batteries - one on the driver side is for main starting power and the one on the right is for accessory power - correct?
I've dropped my new-to-me 2009 by a local British specialty shop who indicate the driver side battery is showing near death and can only be replaced with the Bentley type at a cost of $500 plus labour.
Does that sound right to you all?
Thanks.

Audi or VW dealer for half the money. As long as it is a AGM battery I think aftermarket would be fine.

Fairly certain the right side is the starter battery. It is smaller than the left side.

Hello Randy,
The driver's side battery is the house battery, and is a AGM, the passenger side battery is the starter battery, and it is a liquid acid battery.
And no, you do not need to go to the dealership for a battery, Advanced Auto Parts has what you need.

You are correct, the "Platinum" batteries are the "AGM", whereas the "Gold" batteries are the liquid acid units, I purchased both AGM batteries, if one wants to stick with the AGM for the house battery, and liquid acid for the starter battery, one would put the Platinum on the left, and the Gold on the right.

I have had a bit of hassle moving away from the OEM batteries in Porsche Cayenne and Ferrari 360/430 .
Always done a google + next day Del and DIY fit .
Problems encountered are two fold . Bought the same spec / serial number / Ah etc but another brand from an online discount bat retailer.
1- The dims aren’t exactly the same and I have had to modify the tie down apparatus , ie the lower lip is not a big for a bracket to catch .
2- kid you not the poles ..on opposite ends or side ( from a inner / outer point of view ) so you need flexibility in the leads to “ stretch “ to connect .
So having said ^^^^^ take a look at it on the BCGT and make sure your “ googled “ bat is
1-same dims where the attachment brackets fit , the compartment size is ok it’s the attachment brackets you need to sync as well .
2-poles are same oriented @ which end
3- poles are same side .....with the B they need to be inboard esp the +ve as it’s got a whole load of other takes offs and fuses attached to the +ve pole bracket .
I haven’t done a BCGT yet ! But have seen mines a “ banner “ AGM with a bull picture and when googling it retails ball park for its size .....so when ready will get the exact same brand .........to avoid dropping into the pitfalls 1/2/3 above .

First thing i'd do after following Johnny Hotspur GT's advice (who's worth his weight in gold on this forum) is delete that "British specialty shop" from your contact list. My FS has aftermarket batteries, no issue, altho you do have to have a solid battery tender regardless of the battery mfg. I'm a 2 mo old owner & believe true happiness with the car is having a reasonably priced & dependable mechanic as well as daring-ness to try things yourself !
