Trunk/Boot question

2005 Continental GT.

When I open the trunk, it just pops open, then I have to lift it the rest of the way. When I close it, there is a very slight assist that pulls and latches the last part.

Is this the way it came, or is there a more powerful open/close system that is malfunctioning?

(I may have asked this before, butI don't remember the answer. It's probably "just the power lock")

That is exactly how my 2004 GT functions.

Thanks. Kind of weird for a super-luxury car. But I don't really mind.

I'm not sure, but it seems like the power boot was an option on the '04's and '05's... maybe standard '06 and on-up? Does yours have the power boot? It should have a "boot button" on the inside to the right of the catch of the lid... labeled "Boot" if so equipped. If not, then I'll suggest your boot lid is likely functioning as it should.

Was an option on my ‘06 Mulliner too. Felt different as every other car I had came with this standard but this one. Johnny Hotspur Gave me the rundown on if I wanted to convert it to an all power trunk, but what all it would have took, I passed on that headache. I even have the plug for the motor just sitting there.

I don't think full power trunk was an option for '04 or '05. Aside from the Mulliner package, colors and maybe wheel choice, were there many options available?

Massage seats , TV tuner , heated steering wheel , Audio upgrade , possibly more wood ? Infact I think the early ones 04 launch modals come fully wooded up and as time passed say by the 06 ish they dumbed it down and made the full wood more of an option .The reason they did this was to basically reduce costs .....a man hr thing .

Hi John - I think the massage seats were standard.TV tuner I think was a Europe only option? Never seen a heated steering wheel on an '05 and pre Continental (although my '05 Phaeton has it, as well as soft-close doors, rear massage seats, and front cooled seats ). Wood choice yes - but I think you got max wood (pi) with the non-mulliner package - with mulliner you get the quilt in the door panels.

Just for the record: my 05 has a heated steering wheel.

Also, my ‘06 came with the full wood steering wheel option.
