1st Gen Conti: digital speedometer
I noticed my friend's 2005 FS has a digital speedometer read-out (i.e. it shows the speed on the centre square display in addition to the circular gauge on the right). On the other hand my 2004 CGT does not have it - or maybe I don't know how to activate it after flipping through all the steering wheel menu buttons.
Is this something that was retrofitted or only available in certain markets/years?

I saw this pic uploaded by one of our fellow members from Vietnam, which also shows the speed displayed in digital digits in the square screen.

My '05 Continental doesn't have that. Has the display - just no option for speed. My '05 Phaeton doesn't have it either. Maybe restricted to certain markets? If that's the case maybe it's adjustable in the VAGCOM?

That is his 2010 FS pictured.

Exactly my point, 2005-07 NA GT does not have it, so being that the OP is in Hong Kong and "His friends 2005 FS" has it, I take as a market, model, and year issue, besides the fact that there is no 2005 NA FS.....

Hello @dskippy888 can you confirm that your friends 2005 FS shows the real-time actual road speed and not an average speed driven in center display ?
Thanks.

Thanks.

I was just reading some off the threads & came across this, it docent make any sense these 05 models don't have the speed read out in the centre dash in actual time. then if one studies the picture the read out shows 30 and the speedo gauge reads 21 ... so there you have it ...
I think you misread the picture, the picture is of a 2010 FS and it's center digital display shows 31 KPH, while the analog dial shows both 31KPH and a hair over 20 MPH, which is pretty much equal.
Also, the 04-07 have been said to not have the actual speed displayed in the DIS, only the average, does your 2006 GT show actual speed, this has been discussed many times on AW whereas a 2004-2007 D3 A8 iirc does not show the actual speed, but a 2007 D3 S8 does.

Yes, it is a shown in the picture, you can see the KM/H to the right of the displayed speed, also the odometer and trip are shown in KM.

For the curious: In short - we suspect it's what is known as a "ghost car" in Hong Kong. The VIN on the registrations/chassis do not match the actual VIN of the car which has since been removed - possibly stolen, bad title, evade first registration tax, who knows. You can buy/sell these and MOT them but they are significantly cheaper - you'll only get a problem and get it possibly confiscated if it gets into any accident where police are involved.
I take it this system cannot be retrofitted.

I've finally got a chance to ask him. The car is indeed a facelift - but the reg shows 2005 FS numbers/papers.
