Code reading before buying Ross-Tech or dedicated handheld?
Prior to buying a used Conti GT, I'd like to run a thorough code read, if the seller lets me!
Will the Ross-Tech VCDS do that? (The cheaper version has a 3 VIN number limit - that means I can only ever use it on 3 different cars or only have 3 cars at a time registered?)
Will one of the Autel or Foxwell hand held scanners give a thorough scan, including historic errors?

As far a the enthusiast model, I believe it is for 10 VIN #'s, where as the shop item is unlimited.

EDIT: I stand corrected, I now see the 3 VIN item, really not worth it for only 3, when for a hundred more you get 10, so $66.66 for each of three, or $30.00 for each of 10.

You don't need to register the Ross-Tech to the car if you're just pulling the codes. You only need to do it if you're making coding changes. So you can scan and pull codes from as many potential cars as you like with the 3-VIN product.
