Someone knowledgeable please answer vacuum tube model year question?
Hey guys, will someone who actually knows the answer for sure please chime in here. There seems to be a lot of discrepancy over when Bentley addressed the vacuum line over the transmission issue. One camp says they addressed it in 2007 and the other says 2008. Obviously I'm asking this as I have an '07 and would like to know for sure if my vehicle is affected.
Thank you.
Thank you.

It's a 2007 model but I'm fairly certain it was actually built late in 2006.

But you still have the lines along the firewall as always that leak, you will also have some lines at the rear of the intake that will eventually leak, as they are all still the same plastic style lines that were over the transmission...

There is a very simple answer to know for sure, pop the hood and remove the "B" cover at the rear of the intake, if you see the gray vacuum solenoid circled in yellow in the attached picture then you do NOT have the vacuum lines over the transmission.

This is what I have. It appears to be the same as what's in your photo. I think that's good news.

Yes, yes it is, so no need to drop the engine for vacuum line repair, just remove the steering rack to access vacuum lines along the firewall when needed.

That is awesome. Thank you so much for the help. Also, if it helps anyone else, I checked the door sill and the exact build date of my car was 06/2006.

Is it wise to say if you have an 06 that was manufactured 07/2005 and it has the grey vacuum solenoid (or is mines too dark of a grey) that it MAY have the lines above the trans replaced already? I had it smoke tested at Audi a yr or two ago and the printout talked about the lines were cracked on bank 2 and that the engine had to come out. I’m starting to wonder if they even did a smoke test or if they just looked and seen the lines cracked and said “yep, here’s the problem”.

Hello TJ,
Is that a picture of your engine compartment, if so, then your 2006 has the revision, and it does not nor did your vehicle ever have any lines over the transmission, I will say it like this, say you had a 2005 with the lines over the transmission, the dealership does not reroute the new line to up behind the intake as like the revised version, the dealer just puts the same plastic lines back over the transmission, so does everyone one else that I know of, the only difference being that others will use metal lines in place of plastic.
So if the picture is yours, then you do not have to drop the engine/transmission package to get to the lines along the firewall and at the rear of the intake.

I apologize for beating a dead horse, but I just want to be clear on a few things.

Its seems like this vacuum line saga is all over the place as too which car has what and where. If it matters to anyone I have a 2006 Mulliner with a build date of 07/2005.
Can anyone post the original and revised engine compartment. I would like to keep it in my files. I would look myself but I wouldn’t know what to look for to see the difference.

I just want to add this for clarity for all, the vehicles with the lines over the transmission have the gray solenoids residing with the lines on top of the the transmission, meaning that one would either have NO solenoids at the rear of the intake (early style 2003-some 2006) with solenoids and lines over transmission, or solenoids at the rear of the intake and no lines or solenoids at all over the transmission for 2006 and up GT, GTC.
Remember that the FS never had anything over the transmission to begin with.
Here are some pictures showing the black cover on top of the transmission covering the solenoids and lines, and another picture showing no cover, no lines, no solenoids, see Jason's video showing the cover, lines and solenoids on an 05 GT.
