Hood/Bonnet Release B Insignia Button Adjustment?
#16
1+2 are the ones to snip to extinguish the pink bonnet open light .Theres a plug for each side .Remove the top cover panel. Not sure what 3+4 do . When I got the car the previous owner had snipped all 4 .No symptoms. So I guess 3/4 are alarm connected ?? As said if you do this and the oil light comes on you have to jump 1+2 to fool a ECU the bonnets been opened otherwise despite a correct dipstick reading after topping up the dam oil light won’t go out .

Just to follow up on my issue -
I lubricated the areas recommended by JH using silicone spray. The assembly moves freely but still does not raise the insignia button above the recessed area.

Are you saying that if you push the left lever to the rear of the vehicle as I pictured, the button does not come up above the wings as I show in my picture ?
If so, maybe one of us will have to disassemble the apparatus to see just how the "B" puller ****/button is assembled, is it possible say if the "B" slides onto a shaft, that maybe somehow the "B" got slammed down to far onto the shaft, is the "B" flush with the wings when the bonnet/hood is closed, or is it sunken below ?

When I pop open the hood/bonnet and raise it to the catch point the B emblem only slightly pops up, requiring I have to use my fingernails to pry the button up enough to grab it to fully release the mechanism.
Anyone know what part of the mechanism needs to be adjusted to let the B button raise up taller out of its recess? I took a look and it doesn't appear obvious to me.
Thanks.

After pulling the release handle inside the car .........does the B emblem ( you say does not pop up enough to easily grab ) pop up if you gently then push down a little on the hood ? Obviously don’t push down hard to re lock it !
That what mine occasionally does ..l.li just grab the grill and gently work it up and down and the B emblem raises more .When its up enough then grab it .
Interestingly the hand book states don’t drop it to close ......just lower it and use the palms of your hands spread evenly and push ir down to re latch .
As said in the U.K. there is high end body shop that ALWAYS has a few Bentleys in to repair the damage of the thing flying open .
Combination of the -
- warning light micro switch circuit bypassed ?
- inadequately/ incorrectly re fitted new whole latch ( inc the new switch) mechanisms by DIY ers
- faulty latch
- faulty locking mechanisms ?
- all of the above .
So be careful messing about with it .

Hello @Randy V ,
Do as John F stated as to pushing down slightly on the hood to see if the button rises.
What sticks out to me in your one picture is, that you have one lone hex head bolt, with the other three being torx, my 05 has four torx, but the two top ones each have big heads to them, with the two lower bolts being just like the 3 you have, I kinda think that means someone been at the latch before, just my thought.
So, I took mine off, took all of 30 seconds, there is only one adjustment, and that is the rusty bolt and locking nut as seen in my picture, and that adjuster is only to set how low the button sits in the hole, that's it, also the unit can not be taken apart as it is assembled with hammered end pins, if you pull it out and cannot get the button as high as shown in my pictures, I suggest a new unit, it's hard for me to tell because of lack of disassembly, but as you can see the cross pin going Left to right at the bottom of the button, I believe that part is metal, and that the plastic button slides over it, maybe somehow yours got jammed down, then someone adjusted the locking bolt to sit flush, that is if it is assembled the way I think, I may be dead wrong, I just do not see any other reason as to the height of yours.
Sorry I couldn't help you more.
