Hood/Bonnet Release B Insignia Button Adjustment?
When I pop open the hood/bonnet and raise it to the catch point the B emblem only slightly pops up, requiring I have to use my fingernails to pry the button up enough to grab it to fully release the mechanism.
Anyone know what part of the mechanism needs to be adjusted to let the B button raise up taller out of its recess? I took a look and it doesn't appear obvious to me.
Thanks.

Opening the bonnet on the Bentley GT/ GTC
- To open the bonnet on a Bentley GT/GTC , pull the interior bonnet release lever. Walk to the front of the vehicle and with your left hand fingers reach under the center of the grille and lift slightly. Immediately the black flying " B" emblem pops up. With your right hand grab the Black "B" button and lift. The bonnet will open up.

Randy's problem is that the flying "B" does NOT pop up far enough to grab as stated, so he is asking for adjustment instructions, not how to open the hood/bonnet.....

Sounds like he’s not pulling up the hood slightly.

Well....
I took it when Randy said "raise it to the catch point" as he means he is lifting the hood by hand as high as he can, to the "catch point", and the "B" fails to protrude out far enough to get a good grip on it.

I concur AJ1,
Thank you Randy for bringing this to light, mine was so jammed that if I ever closed the hood when I finish my rebuild, it most likely would not have been able to open, or it would have meant messing up the popper, looks like I need new anyway, so I pulled and pushed on the levers in pictures and I got it all the way out, but then it was stuck all the way out, really jammed, so here are some pictures of where I just lubed it, working freely now.

Johnny has correctly summarized my issue.
I will try some lubrication but doubt it will help as all the mechanism parts move freely now. I'm really thinking something needs adjustment to further raise the emblem out of its recess.

See how the lube works out, then if you could post some pictures in the same manner as I will post now.
First, hood fully opened, first picture.
Next, push the left side lever to the rear of the vehicle, second picture, that should raise the button to the height shown in the third picture.
Then pull up the button as shown in the fourth picture, this will move the right side lever/hook to unlatch the hood.
The hood striker does have a little adjustment up and down, pictures 5 & 6, but not sure how much that will help the button rising out.

Sorry not trying to jack this thread. What sort of lube are you guys using on the mechanism please. For some reason my one shows bonnet still open although it’s not? Any advice on this please guys.
thanks

For lubing moving parts i only use silicone spray as things like wd40 /grease etc catch the dirt and over time cause sticking

If so it’s needs a fix as potentially it could drain the LHS bat when parked and locked as it thinks the bonnet is open .
You can disable the latch microswitch or replace he latch microswitch .
I have disabled it albeit temporarily it’s easy to re enable for the oil light .
As is the accepted norm with VAG , nowts ever simple ......the micro switch as well as linked to your alarm module it’s also linked to the oil level light .Takes a bit of getting your head around but par for the course .

You mean your bonnet light on the dash stays on ?

My Bentley Tech tells me they go all the time , but is hesitant replacing ( will do if asked ) because it’s a pig to realign them both .
Not sure what will happen if you unplug ....I think there are 4 wires and you only need to snip two to permanently never see the pink open light .
Not sure what the other two of the 4 do .
As per link two of mine ( both connects the L +R ) were snipped .This meant I could not extinguish the oil light ....hence the “ bodge “ .
Just to add another layer of cerebral thinking .....in the U.K. Chartwells based in Derby are high end B approved body repairers .
Unfortunately out of an ave of 25 cars in sent from all over the U.K. ( all high end marques ) they always have a steady streams of BGT s in with dented A pillars from bonnets flying open and the air folding them back fracturing the hinges .
So armed with that fact on balance my tech and myself would rather leave the OEM factory fitted / adjusted catches in situ .
suspect total alignment of the 2 catches + micro switches is an issue .
eg you may get the switches to say it’s properly shut and really it’s isn’t until you are doing 80 mph , then a pink dash flag followed by ..........
Of course each to there own ....
