Hi everybody
Im Mike new to the site decided to join and learn more about all the problems of owning a bentley continental lol
not used to navigating around the forum not sure if this message will be read but anyway if someone has any advice id be grateful
I recently bought a 2004 bentley continental gt pretty low miles 64k and on the way home after purchasing it drove really nice after a trip from London
to blackpool until after 170 miles driving at 70mph the car died on my lost power and i pulled onto the hard shoulder straight away stopped put into park and turned turned engine off
Then i started it up and tried to put into drive and nothing happened car wouldnt move
I then tried reverse and there was this slight light grinding like a wet fart noise lol
I had to be recovered by the AA
Someone told me that the main system battery could b a t fault so I did a test on it and it was in bad shape and today I fitted a new main battery hoping it would be the problem
but the gearbox still makes the noise going from park to reverse and still nothing when in drive
Please can anyone help with some advice? is a new gearbox needed

Hi mate not a mechanic myself but strongly suggest you look at local press to see if anyone has VCDS DIAGNOSTIC tool to read any stored faults near by. All the best
