05 Bentley CGT - Location of the TV Tuner 3D0919146
#17
I hardware version I bought was a Digital TV Tuner from a VW Phaeton 2008 P/N: 3D0919148 and is a direct replacement of the analogue P/N: 3D0919146 apart from the antenna connectors 4x which need to be taken from their connector housing which in my case did not fit the newer Phaeton unit.

Digital receiver
Johnny, just wanted to update you on the TV tuner install. Did it last night. Disconnected the old unit. Antenna connectors do not fit the Phaeton unit, so I removed them by lifting off the pint connector cover and then lifting up the retaining clip on the connector and the antenna cables just pull out. Making sure number 1 went into the far right slot of each pair i pushed the antenna connectors into place. Unit fired up straight away I changed the country location in the setup to England / Ireland and was away with digital TV and DAB radio.
So no need to re-scan the CAN etc. It was plug and play. Next upgrade to fit today is an upgrade of the Bluetooth module. Found a module in the US for $100. Thanks for all your help.

I have completed the above. But not working. All cables are in and fan working on unit.
No dab Radio or Tv 🤔
Any suggestions?

Assuming that you live in a good DAB / DTV area, which even now many areas of the UK aren't, have you tried a complete power down and reset of the whole car? By that I mean both batteries off iaw correct procedure, and then leave for at least half an hour for any capacitors to discharge.
The unit is fan is probably running because the receiver has a permanent power feed, and has recognised a wake up signal on the bus.

A few months back I also upgraded my old analogue TV tuner for the newer digital/hybrid module 3D0919148. This turned out to be unsuccessful since I could never got it to work (just white noise on the screen). After much fiddling with coding and adaption of the module and with the help of the ever present Johnny (thanks again Johnny) we came to the conclusion that this module only works on DTV MPEG2 signal whereas in my country the DTV runs on the newer MPEG4 signal. I'm afraid this makes this module upgrade useless. This may be your case if in your country you also have MPEG4 signal and no analogue TV stations anymore. The module is a hybrid model meaning it tunes in both analogue and digital signals but in our case there aren't any more analogue stations available and no MPEG2 signal on the DTV stations. In conclusion I just have a brick hanging under the rear shelf back there in the boot.

Hello @sspeeder ,
But you could install the pins/rca jacks for video/audio inputs 1&2, and use it like a home stereo receiver, and one of those inputs could be a TV tuner like this below, or and video audio input you choose to display on the screen and sound system.
