Sorry if this has been asked before. Is there a update for the 2005 GT when it comes to maps. I know it’s not the best but would like to see a decent up to date map.

Being you have a 2005, you have the iirc 10 disc set, therefore look up the BMW disc updated set,
I switched my head unit and disc drive over to the 2010 setup, therefore only 1 DVD.

 

Are there any Disc for Vietnam? even with BMW map? I wonder if it available?

I have been trying to find updates for my 05 B, but no luck. I have the 2010 BMW disc and it works fine, but I can't find anything newer. I suspect we are SOL.

 

If it’s the same cd drive as BMW then I am pretty sure one should be able to just plug and play the newer dvd drive without changing the head unit. I am pretty sure I did that on an old BMW and Range Rover which had the same Bmw unit???

Part number would be "3W0 919 887 Q", do not get the "A" as it is a CD NAV drive, even though many sellers list it as a DVD.

But your problem is that the your 2005 head unit will not work with the DVD drive, I can pop out my 2010 head unit tomorrow and fit a 2005 unit to test with the 2010 NAV drive to be sure, I swear I tried it when I was testing other members here head units that I repaired, and the nav did not work, I will take a short video this time to show.

Here are my videos I did today, and as I thought, one can NOT just swap out any 2003-2007 CD based navigation disc drive for a 2008 and up DVD navigation disc drive while leaving the 2003-2007 original infotainment head unit in place.

Did you ever find any newer nav cd discs than the 2010 bmw edition? I'm looking for an updated disc for an 05 Bentley Continental but having a tough time finding the discs online.
