Using CTek battery charger with 12V plug in boot
All,

There is information on this scattered across threads. I've read through a few threads, but wanted to verify a few things:
- Just acquired the CTek 7002. Also bought the adapter to plug into a cigarette lighter 12V plug.
- Planning to use this on a 2006 Continental Flying Spur which has a 12V cigarette lighter adapter on RHS of boot (side where the starter battery is located)
- Does the 12V plug in the boot operate without the key in the car, and I can I use it to trickle charge the battery. Do both batteries get charged this way? Any particular process to follow?
- Also how does one route the cord that plugs into the 120V outlet out of the car? Can the boot be closed on the cord without damage? Any other ways of doing this without leaving the boot open?

Yep...same way I do it. I have 2 7002’s. I use the alligator clips on the other battery and just have the plug hanging out of the side panels. I bought the CTEK light indicator thing for my starter battery but the only time it’s green is when the charger is on it 🤣 and I put on there as soon as I changed both my battery’s. It mostly flashes yellow.

A 2016 Bentley Continental with the magnetic contacts in the boot lid for the Bentley branded Ctek charger. However, charger stayed in the desulfastion cycle before eventually cutting out. I've checked the 5A battery monitoring fuse and this is good. However, with a voltmeter across the terminals on the boot lid no voltage registered.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Did you solve your problem Carpe Diem? I have just acquired a Continental GT and have exactly the same problem. Using my new magnetic connector it never gets beyond stage 1 on the CTEK. There is no voltage at the boot lid terminals but I was told the magnetic connector needs to be connected to 'unlock' the receptor on the boot lid. However, with the connector attached there is no voltage at the 2 pins on the CTEK connector lead, so something is wrong. Like you, I checked fuse 17 (battery monitoring). Any ideas what else it could be?

From what I've read of those connectors they need voltage applied. Have you tried checking voltage with everything connected? You'd need to splice in some wires or something, clearly.
I could be way off track, though.
Obviously you could bypass the whole thing and get a better idea of the battery state by connecting direct.

What happens if you put the C-tek on "source" power option to get it started as far as charging, not starting the engine.

Please expound on the fix, stating as part of a £2K + service doesn't give us any details, €1995 could have been for other issues, as I doubt it costs £2k+ to fix your charging port... 😬
