So, I finally took the plunge & had LED's fitted yesterday to my front side lights, these are what were fitted; -DSM ALPHA W5W T10 CANBUS 6 LED 5000K https://www.dsmlights.ch/feux-de-pos...led-5000k.html
These LED's were recommended within the long thread on this subject "Anyone ever change this bulb? Seems impossible to reach, headlamp" but unfortunately for me the check lights message comes up.
My question is that I have the Ross-tech VCDS software does anyone know if i am able to code this fault message out, & if so how too?
BTW, I'm very happy with the result of changing the bulbs, looks so much more modern now!
Cheers Pete.

Despite the advertising claim, the LEDs are obviously drawing insufficient current hence the warning.
I wasn't aware that such messages can be coded out.
When I fitted LED sidelights I add a small 68 Ohm wirewound in parallel - RS Part Number 720-4928.
I bolted the resistor to the plastic access cap using M2.5 screws.

I quite agree with you about the improved look of LEDs, and unfortunately since starting with the sidelights, I have become a bit obsessed and have fitted LEDs to every interior and boot lamp.
I'm trying to build up the confidence to do the puddlelights in the door mirrors, but it means removing the glass, and the risk of breakage currently outweighs my desire for LEDs.

As far as the puddle lights in the side mirrors, slow and steady is the key (Trust me I know lol). Follow the instructions from here and you should be fine. Once I finished mines I put a little monkey snot (that’s what we use to call it.....black sticky/tacky stuff....in my installing days) to make a good seal again. It shouldn’t take you 30 mins from the start of the first mirror to putting the glass back onto the other one.

I just might try the headlight led swap this winter since I won’t be driving it in the snow...you all are starting to make it sound so easy.

Hi, yes realise the issue, but just hoping there is another way to resolve it as I'm not sure if is possible to code out either. That said there are some clever people on here, so if it's possible someone will know.
Just to be clear I didn't do it myself, my local garage did, so I wont be pulling off the front end to get back at these lights to fit a resistor.
Thanks Pete.

Yes, very easy when someone else does it

It's not necessary to remove the front end - I did it all (i.e. fitted LEDs and added resistors) from under the bonnet, having disconnected a couple of intake pipes to improve access.

Yes, so people say, but for where I took it they removed the front end, which TBH I didn't have an issue with as some people are successful & some not.

Hi All,
A little update, so.........If I start the car with the lights turned on no "check lights" message comes up & things are all good. However (still with the engine running) when I turn the lights off, the "check lights" message comes up.
Then I tried, lights off start engine, "check lights" comes up, turned lights on & "check lights" remains, I just can't seem to get my head round this, could it be a latching fault that just remains on until the car is switched off?. Why would the message come up when lights off but not if lights turned on before starting car? Could it be that the in board resistor is only in circuit when lights are turned on, seems unlikely?
Finally I have just realised the DSM link in the starter thread doesn't work so have just replaced it with this https://www.dsmlights.ch/feux-de-pos...led-5000k.html a link that does!
Again any help if possible to code this out would be very gratefully received.
Thanks Pete.
