Bentley Continental GT Convertible vs 911 Cab
#16
Agree mostly with the above, having owned both, I’d say it depends what you enjoy more, if you can’t justify having both.
If the Carrera felt underpowered compared to the A6, I’d recommend trying one of the models with a more track focus. I’ve never found any of the 4L TT offerings to be that impressive and with the exception of the R8, Audi handling not on par with 911s. I’ve owned as many audis as I have Porsches at 4 each since the 80s. Still have one of each.
911 for command and control of the car with a visceral connection to the road. Very energizing. I’m jazzed up during and after a drive. Type A mood. Sativa. Listen to the engine and feel the road. IMO pre nanny electronics and less bulky designs of the past in normally aspirated form are the best at this.
Bentley for comfort and style. I’m relaxed and comfortable, and while the W12 does invite a deep right foot now and again, I’m still inclined to be relaxed after a drive. Still happy, but not the **** eating grin you get from a real sports car, however, very content. Indica. Listen to music and enjoy the scenery in comfort and serenity. Newer the better, in this case as the materials, workmanship and creature comforts have improved progressively in these IMO. Haven’t owned the GTC (have the coupe), but drove one from NY to FL as a favor to a friend who moved south to retire.
One big problem is you can’t safely exploit the capabilities of either car on the streets. As such, many 911 folks end up at the track. Not too many BCGTs as it’s not as fun throwing a heavy car around the track and also not competitive outside a straight line. Track BCGTs exist, but are a far cry from consumer models.
