06 BCGT Broken side glass
So the regulator has been a little finicky for the past few months on the passenger door glass. Not operating on auto rewind all the time. Today winding up the window from fully open it exploded inside the door when it was about 1 inch up. How big of a deal is this? What should we look at? Obviously something is very wrong, beyond just replacing the glass.

Hello @jslamin ,
Please explain what you mean by "exploded", as the glass should not be tempered glass (that would explode in tiny pieces) but should be laminated glass that should just crack, but held together by the laminate.
I have the glass available used at about half the cost of new, I will post it in the marketplace if you are interested.
As far as what causes it to break, I would be checking the front and rear guides, being you stated that it was only an inch up out of the door, I would discount that any cable broke allowing the glass to fall, even if the cable broke I doubt a 1 inch fall would cause damage, unless I misread and you meant 1 inch from fully closed, and then fell.
I will take pictures of all the pieces that make up the window system tomorrow and post for you.

To be more clear. The window was in roll up mode and with about 1 inch of glass exposed from the door, it stopped advancing and popped. I heard the tinkle of glass falling back into the door and the top edge dropped back into the door. Actuating the window button produces a grinding glass sound.

Ok, so you have not seen any broken glass, yet, so what you heard was the cables slapping around inside the door.
Remove the door panel for inspection and report back.
I also have the window regulator assembly available if you need it.

JHS; The hood piece on the interior door pull cable broke removing the interior panel.. Is that little cable hood over the cable connect critical?
