This may/may not be of use to you , the company being in the UK , but they do have a very high reputation here.
May be worth a call .

There are interchangeable parts with the VW or Audi brand but aftermarket....Few and far between. I would personally stay away from any aftermarket anything for these cars. They are very temperamental and most things are a pain in the butt to change. If any OEM parts are here in the states the price is jacked up (in my experience) so I just bite the bullet and buy either from Flying Spares or Scuderia.
When I redid my front end I ordered from Rock Auto and the parts either had a TRW/Moog (or something like that) which is what I gathered Is standard parts most car manufacturers uses anyway.
Edit: I concur with British, check with Johnny also for parts before you buy elsewhere.

Flying Spares or Scudera, or Ebay. There isn't a comprehensive Audi/Bentley cross-reference, but if you spend some time digging around this board, you'll find good references.
I have a pdf document with lots of details some useful most just interesting. If you PM me your email address, I'll send it to you, it has some cross-references.
Is there anything in particular you're looking for? I've found that my independent knows a lot of part substitutions. For the expendable stuff, like brakes, I would stick with stock, but there are some threads on here from guys that found cheap replacements. The air struts: same thing, some of the aftermarket stuff gives guys fits, but some make it work.
Instead of aftermarket, you really want "gently used" for some items, Johnny has stuff as well as the guy in Florida that makes interesting videos as he takes apart GTs for salvage.

I find having the part number is the starting point to shopping for parts. For example, 3W0129620C, is the air filters. If you google/bing that part number you'll find them available from china(ebay) for $25 or from Bentley usa for $245 and every price in between. Does Bentley buy them from china then stick them in a Bentley box then charge an extra $200. for the box? I don't think so, but I don't know!
Another method is to "search this forum" for the part number and many times you'll find an alternate part number in someone's post. For example, a shifter dust cover, part # 3W1713111K can cost over $200, but searching the forum will surface an alternate part for much less.
For me, the last resort would be from Bentley or one of the other OEM part houses, they're priciest.

Pretty sure it was the engine air filters, W12, the old ones had a VW logo on it and part number. I'll have to search though prior pictures to find the one I took.

Although I'm in the UK, I prefer to use Autodoc in Germany.
They're a bit slow to deliver (generally a week from DE to UK), but they have the advantage of being well connected into VW/Audi's OEM supply chain, hence you can search their site using Bentley part numbers. Thus a copy of the Bentley Illustrated Parts Catalogue is essential.
For example: the part number given in the post above for an air filter is £42 from Autodoc for a Mahle part which is an OEM part made in Europe.
When I wanted front suspension arms they supplied the whole lot i.e. upper and lower, front and rear, and ARB links for £850 which is roughly $1000. That is for Lemforder which are OEM with the four rings ground off.
Compare that to Scuderia and Flying Spares who wanted almost £1200 for the same parts!
I know that Autodoc will deliver to the US, but the cost will be prohibitive for small orders.

There are a whole bunch of them on Ebay.
Expensive as hell, but it's not like they're unobtainium.
