Vacume leak info
#16
Thanks for all the info Johnny jj. I just bought a 2007 flying spur and I love this car. I have been a Maserati guy pretty much with the Spyder, grand sport, and Quattroporte gts. I wish I would have bought this car sooner. I love the smell of the English leather and it is so quiet. I have been scouring all the sites trying to ready myself for the issues that may arise in the future. Thanks again Dosh

Hello @Doshhirao and All,
Glad to help, be sure to look through my rebuild thread for any information you may need.
As far as Jason Giannetti, it is as@TeamJones1962 stated, I just spoke with Jason's wife, he is sleeping after a 15 hour drive towing a trailer, he did text me last night to say for all to give him a few weeks to get his new shop in Charlotte NC up and running, he gave me full permission to release his contact information, but PLEASE respect the time requested to wait for contacting him.
Edit:
I would like to add, Jason is one of the nicest, knowledgeable, sharing type of person you would hope to meet in life, I say that with all sincerity, and wish him well in his new home !

I live in Myrtle beach and I don’t want to give away all my money to the Bentley dealer in Clt. I’m hoping Jason will be able to do all little issues this car may have. Thanks for his contact and I wait a month before reaching out. Thanks

The things that turned me off to the Maserati was the way the plastic buttons looked like complete garbage after five or ten years and of course the terrible infotainment system that couldn't be upgraded, unlike the Bentley's.
I love my Bentley and the duo select Maseratis are getting so cheap I could just grab one, but parking where I live is $275/month so it isn't really worth having both, especially since in the pandemic I'm just not driving that much.

My choice was between the Bentley GT and the Quattroporte, I chose the Bentley, but I've always wondered. Why do you like it better? I think the early Quattroporte with the duo select (for those who don't know the term, it's a clutch and gears but all electronic) is the coolest car. I test drove one and loved it, that duo select was so very Italian. My wife hated it and it was actually her car I was replacing, so I didn't get it, I just leased her another Cadillac, I can't get her interested in anything cool.

Sticky buttons are easily remedied with baby wipes, or anything with alcohol. And a very slick infotainment upgrade is now available, search AuCar.
I remember when parking spots in my building were that much.. Then covid hit. Now they can't barely give the spots away

Here is my video showing the vacuum lines along the firewall steering rack area.

My 07 CGT has a minor leak (runs fine, vacuum pump turns on with every brake press, turns off after 15 sec or so). I'm hoping they are minor, accessible leaks.

Believe me, the cracks are not small, if you look at my video in the first 20 seconds, I show how big the cracks are on the two large uprights by splitting them open with my thumb, that is how big the cracks are when either of those lines are pressed onto their connectors.
I suggest a smoke test to determine leakag, remember, these are vacuum lines, not positive pressure, therefore the slightest leak will cause loss of vacuum.
See Jason's video on smoke testing.

Hello All,
Just wanted to share some pictures Jason Giannetti sent me last night, as he is also making the uprights/main feed lines to go along with his previous metal lines and cloth hose setups for over the transmission and along the firewall.

Yes I plan to smoke test mine this weekend and see where the leaks are coming from. Were the cracks you showed in your video bad enough to have the engine run like garbage? My idle is perfectly fine, it just fires up the vacuum pump every time the brake pedal is pressed so I know there's a leak somewhere, but it can't be major yet.
Whats nice now is that I no longer have any vacuum lines running down the back of the engine up over the transmission to solenoids, as I installed the Supersports engine transmission package that of course has the updated version of the vacuum line and solenoids placement, just like your 2007 has.

Not a quattroporte here, but have a Maserati Granturismo and it's so great, and very complimentary with the Continental GT.
Sticky buttons are easily remedied with baby wipes, or anything with alcohol. And a very slick infotainment upgrade is now available, search AuCar.

I think I remember you from Maseratilife. Same reason I got a Continental! I needed a 12 cylinder in my life.

I'm admin on ML these days as well as active on Sports Maserati, so it's entirely possible

Johnny. Is it normal to have a whine from the system for a few seconds on initial startup. What are telltale symptoms that the lines need to be replaced. My last question is does Jason service the Bentley’s as well at his new shop. Thanks for your wealth of knowledge on these cars. Dosh

I am not sure what type of whine you are referring to, maybe post a short video of cold start-up, is it possibly a power steering pump type whine, or maybe an idler pulley, a few possibilities, so a video or sound byte would help.
