Couple of newbie questions
#16
Thank you, once again! I agree, weird that both doors do not soft close. I also hear no motor trying to engage, on either side.
I wonder what the actual statistics would be, for all the cars in the world, if you could count how many times the driver's door is opened compared to the passenger side. Also taking into consideration that my '07 Bentley was purchased from a one-owner estate sale and 'only' has 6000 km. Perhaps I need to look further into those microswitches.

Hello all,
Can I check my symptoms..
1. Passenger door stopped pulling in. You can hear the motor trying every time, but somehow not engaging and pulling the door.
2. Few months later, same thing with driver's door (mine is RHD UK model, so driver is the right side).
3. On both doors, the motor works every time, but does not pull the door. it does NOT pull then release the door. It does not engage, so the door remain with a gap. Almost like it is out of sync somehow.
4. these issues arose, whether by coincidence or not, when I had a very weak "starter" battery (smaller one on the right). Has been replaced with OEM Varta correct spec.
Johnny pointed to either the microswitch or the cable to the door latch. With these symptoms, would one or the other be more likely? And could you point me to a how-to on removing the door trim, so I don't break anything in the process..
Many thanks for all the helpful advice.
Lars

That's not because you're in the EU, it's because your IP is in a specific group owned by your ISP Bahnhof. It's probably a misconfiguration. You could email audiworld admin and ask them

Ahh I see, thanks! I just assumed it was because of the whole GDPR thing, which is why I can't access quite a lot of US websites.
Edit: To continue with the soft door questions... Is it possible that the previous owner of my Bentley, or Bentley Japan who sold it new, has purposely deactivated the soft close feature? If so, without losing power window capabilities (they work just fine) by pulling the fuse, is the microswitch in the door the only way to do that? I'd just like to know as much as possible before I start digging.

I'm only just getting to grips with these cars. I *think* it's possible to turn off the soft close with either VCDS or ODIS. I'm going to try and find some time today to connect VCDS again, as apparently there's a seat reset in there (as well as the manual one described earlier) which sounds a bit easier.
However, I know soft close isn't working because of the faults I get on the scan

Certain radios (also depended on yr manufactured) can be controlled through the BEN HUR system. I have a Kenwood and can change tracks and stations with my jog wheel while I’m on Bluetooth. iirc I have to have the middle screen on media.

Ooooh I wonder if that's it! Thanks I'll give it a whirl.
Per other threads, there's something a little amiss about my Ben-HUR. Two of the buttons are permanently illuminated. I suspect they are symptoms not cause but we're digging

Hello C,
It's very rare that the actual soft close motor goes, it is shown in the picture below attached to the inner door panel.
What really seems to be the issue I have always read about, is a mircoswitch located in the door latch mechanism itself, that is also shown in my picture below.
You will see the difference between the two latch mechanisms, with the left unit being non soft close.
Or a broken cable from the SC motor to the latch.
I myself have issue with my A8L W12 front doors right now, the rear work as they should, but the passenger side front you can hear the motor run sometimes, but the door does not pull in, yet the driver side is just silent and does nothing, so I am thinking mircoswitch on the drivers side, and maybe cable on the passenger side, I will find out after my B is done 😉
Now, if you pull off your door panel and do not see that SC motor, don't go any further as you do not have soft close doors. 🤫
EDIT: I must have missed your EDIT that your passenger soft close words, so you have SC, great !
Here is a link to AW where a8nightmare shows the issue.

Sorry to revive an old thread but the my 2010 GT had a power latch fault when I collected it from the non-Bentley dealer. That along with a couple of other minor niggles were fixed under warranty but a couple of days later - the power latch has stopped working.
Symptoms this time were the light on the dash came on indicating that the passenger door was not fully closed (although it was). So I pulled over and re-closed the door which extinguished the light on the dash. When I got home, tested the power latch and it doesn't work.
My question is - are there micro adjustments for the 2 micro switches or is it possible the new unit is faulty?
Many thanks

I'm having same issue with a passenger door of 2008 Flying Spur.
I can hear the motor working every time I close the door , so I assume this is most likely the faulty cable.
Is it possible to get this cable replaced separate ?
If so , what's a part # ?
