Reliability of Bentley

After having a Bentley for three months I want to make a question. For you How reliable is a Bentley? I have had two little problems with mine (GT Speed with 110.000 kms)

1) Passenger airbagīs sensor was broken
2) Last weekend the screen didnīt work so I canīt hear the radio, use climate... (Next day worked ok, maybe was a problem with the battery beacuse I dóný use It everyday.

At home We have other cars like Porsche, Audi and Mercedes and never had problemss with them. I know my problems with the Bentley are not big but is bored go to mechanic each month.

What do You think about Reliability on Bentley cars?

I own a 2015 FS Mulliner with ~46K miles. Quality is definitely lacking for a $228K car. I have a 2021 Cayenne GTS & 2017 Porsche 911 C2- both MILES ahead of the Bentley for quality, driving experience, service costs/experience. Front end and electrical problems are annoying. Trim problems for a car this young are BS. Interior B-pillar fell off, all 4 exterior door chrome handles strips loose, front end clunks, exterior glass delaminating, audio system is TERRIBLE, headlight lenses spidering, keeps telling me parking and brake lights are out when not. It's a shame because the car looks great - just seems better as a mantle piece instead of a great driving machine.

I have found modern Rolls-Royce vehicles a cut above when it comes to initial quality - just haven't had any long term experience with the brand.

I don't want my words to be misinterpreted, I like Bentley. Perhaps it is my unit that came with an extra problem. I am also aware that I bought a used unit, the faults are not important at the moment, but I would like to read the opinion of more owners of this brand. Not everything will be perfect, right?

My reliability has been fine aside from fixing a vacuum leak, but I generally like used cars in this tier for this reason. Seems like the first owner who pays full price and has matching expectations, fix whatever under warranty. Then the second owner has to deal with all of the stupid stuff like B pillars falling off, etc they get so sick of the thing that they dump it for whatever depreciated price they can get, and then I pick up a sorted car for cheap.

Not a Bentley but I can see from the service records that the first owner on my Maserati had such a headache with my car, it was constantly at the dealer for small stuff, etc. And then I haven't had one issue in 3 years.

I could feel the frustration of this, but the $125-250k tier of boutique cars (basically anything nicer than S Class and less common than Porsche) are mostly in an awkward position. Buyers expect these cars to be engineered better, but they aren't, and they're still expensive, so it's frustrating for those who pay full price.

Buyers above $250k are in the Ferrari, Lamborghini, RR tier care less about running costs, and may not even drive their car that much to begin with. They don't care about their car being engineered better and spending less time in the shop than an S Class, because it's a Lamborghini, not a lowly common S560

At least that's my general sense of it.

I don't think so. There are many used Ferrari, Lamborghini and RR that are for sale far less than $250k and are cheaper than a Bentley and have a boat load of problems. The reliability of any of these vehicles go down for a few reasons. The first is electronic gadgets that most people struggle with, the second is performance and last is weight. Lambos and Ferraris don't have the weight issues but do have the performance and to a lesser extent gadget problems. Anything bigger, better, faster and nicer cost more to maintain.

I fully agree with you, the more expensive the new car is, the more expensive it is to maintain. The problem is the number of times we have to go to the workshop. In your case, is the number of times greater or the same as the rest of the brands?

I agree with this, just saying there is a perception gap in the 125-250k range that more expensive means that it'll be better quality than their S Class or Porsche, when it's not. Essentially:

200k Bentley buyer "I paid 200 and change for this car, it should be better than this"

350k Ferrari buyer "ehh, it's a Ferrari"

Massive grilles and electric motors, obviously they go hand in hand.
