Spoiler initialising

Spoiler initialising
2004 bc gt
Hi guys I know we've probably covered spoilers numerous times but I was wondering if there is a set process to initialise the rear spoiler
Mine goes up and down through the motions but then a light comes up on dash and it locks out. Is there a way to ensure you set the spoiler and motor up before initialisation? Also I noticed my car doesn't have the plastic cover that sits beneath the spoiler (I've just ordered one) but was wondering would this help in setting up or is it just a dust cover. Any help appreciated as me and another Bentley owner as suffering the same issues.
I have also tried 2 different motors just to iliminate that area

Most likely a broken wire somewhere. No continuity somewhere in a sensor .It detects it at the beginning that’s why it goes through the motions and throws the dash light and dies .
LHS unbiblical is the place to look .It’s control unit is in its board on the motor housing , it’s getting power , it’s live with the dash light and switching the only other thing left is a speed sensor signal .
So it’s either faulty speed sensor or the wire from that has fractured on the way to the motor unit .
The plastic dust cover is irrelevant.
So you need the wiring diagram and check the continuity of the speed sensor input running from the sensor ( iirc LHS umbilical) to the multi plug pin on the motor / control unit housing .
Find it and reconnect.
I had exactly what you have turned out a broken wire ,
