2008 Bentley Continental GTC
Recently purchased the above lightly used car with 21k on the clock.
When you drive it sedately there are no problems with gear change. However when you floor the accelerator and it “ Kicks Down” there is a slight whine then all the gear change lights come on and it goes into limp mode.
Shut her down then restart and it goes back to normal.
when changing gears with the paddles you can be as aggressive as you like and there are no issues.
Bentley dealer has run diagnostics and sent data to Bentley for deeper analysis.
Any thoughts would be appreciated or who would be the best Independent Bentley place in Scotland with transmission smarts.
Had a troll through the site looking for similar posts but could not find any. Could be my lack of tech smarts!!!!
Many thanks

Without the TCU ( transmission control unit) trouble codes it is difficult to surmise. However, the described symptoms would suggest incorrect gear ratios. Try to establish what gear the transmission is shifting into when the hooting and limp mode occur. Many here use Ross Tech vcds at home to retrieve trouble codes. Sometimes a OBD2 generic picks up some transmission codes?
One could try a transmission fluid & filter refresh. There is also a seal between the mectronic valve body and transmission that gets leaky and can be changed. In addition to the seal there are four clutch seals that look like small tubes that also flattened out and leak that can be changed. This might be the fix. However don't keep hopes up. Anyway drive the car cautiously and avoid pushing it into limp mode for the time being. The noise is most likely one of the clutches slipping.
Hopefully the shop will make sure the fluid level is correct before doing any more expensive work..
Not positive but the transmission in an 2008 is the ZF6hp26A61 possibly upgraded in 08 to the hp28? Of course these are the all wheel drive variants.

Thanks Johnny!
Think it is the switch itself, as before it was flickering on few occassions when i switch to the 'manual' mode. But will investigate tomorrow.
If will need a new one, are the sliders sold separately?
