Defective wheel / Flat tire error msgs
#16
You are in the USA, so your version is the 433MHz, as far as the reset, when I just installed 4 new wheels and sensors, the system did it on it's own, although I did clear the fault codes with my Ross-Tech VCDS prior to driving, so the dash light went out and the system was learning.

@cam99 ,
On which model and year Bentley did you use the steering column stalk to do anything with the TPMS ?
If these are just generic instructions and not Bentley specific, I think that they should be removed as to not cause confusion...
If I have to remove, I will also remove this post and your response to keep the thread clean.
Sincerely,
Johnny

@tteplitzmd ,
You are welcome !
See.

I have used these guys 5 times recently for my own vehicles, and my neighbors vehicle, no issues at all, and very fast shipping.

The Bentley just did the same recently when I had the wheels off the vehicle, the fields were blank, and a dash warning light appeared, but after a short drive, it went out..

After searching for TPMS parts from various internet sites, it looks like there are pre programmed and non programmed
versions of the TPMS part. As long as I enter the correct model and model year of my 2013 GTC, it would appear
that the "preprogrammed" part will allow the system to "learn" and display properly after driving.
Interestingly the Made in Germany parts, said to be by the same manufacturer as OEM have the best
explanation of what you need.

I have now started receiving a quick yellow "DEFECTIVE WHEEL ON BOARD" message every time I start the car, followed by a red "FLAT TYRE" with beeps that I cannot remove from the dash. No tire is flat nor showing any signs of losing pressure.
I have Ross-Tech VCDS, but I am not very familiar with it. Will it allow me to see which TPMS-sensor is causing the error? Can I turn it off without replacing it? If I replace it, which sensor is preferred?
Yesterday I visited another Bentley GT owner and I saw on his dash how he recalculated the TPMS sensors. Since I have installed the Tesla screen I am quite sure I cannot do that. Is that also something VCDS can help me with?
Thanks in advance!

good timing - i got this too
not started diagnosis yet - no time and i dont care about this bs at the moment - but here is what i would do:
1. ask at any tire shop to check sensors if they are responding and report right pressure using their radio tool
2. or just go to addr 65 measuring blocks - to get real time data from all 4 sensors - pressure temperature and status (should be "normal-reading")
i have brand new sensors and it was surprise for me to get a fault after few months from installation - so i suspect fault in the module itself or antenna issue.
antenas status can be also checked in measuring blocks or can be tested in adaptation section as i remember.
good luck and inform where was the issue once resolved

From the internet.
"1. open luggage compartment and remove left side battery panel and pull the TPMS fuse (fuse 11 left side battery fuse box).
2. with vcds/vagcom or similar open 07 control head then coding, to delete TPMS you need to -2 from the 3rd digit from the right (if the number is 7 change to 5) and save it.
3. open 19 gateway, recode it with exactly the same code as it already has (probably something like "0000006") and save it.
4. clear trouble codes.
"TPMS Fault" should now have gone from the cluster.
"TPMS Unavailable" will now show when you press vehicle on control display. "

Thank you Johnny! Always so helpful.
Since I still have the Tesla-type screen, I'm pretty sure the TPMS-monitoring is not active in my car anyways. (Aside from on the dashboard, that is..)

I just went through this exact issue a couple weeks ago. I started the car and immediately got a "Faulty Wheel on Board" warning. 2 minutes later, the car gave me a flat tire warning. I checked the pressure on the indicated tire and it was within spec.
This happened about a week after the car had sat for 5 days and my battery was too low to start the car. I used the emergency start technique, and the car started and drove just fine. As long as I drove it every few days, I had no issues starting.
I took the car to a local shop and they ran all kinds of diagnostics. Very long story shot, the TPMS was fine, but my non-starter system battery was not taking a full charge, and the tires had very inconsistent pressure. New battery and properly pressurized tires solved the issues. A lot of little quirks seemed to clear up with the new battery and tightened grounds. There was nothing wrong with my systems or tires. Before they replaced the battery, they were seeing a draw from the battery when the car was off, so they tightened many of the grounds and connections.
I would suggest before going too deep into this, check your batteries and top off the air in all of your tires. That solved the exact same issue in my car.
