replacing the brake booster vacuum pump
your spotting a trend here arnt you ? lol
replacing all the common fail points on these fantastic cars, well, i do have to get her' just right ' to enjoy her more
the brake vacuum booster pump is mounted in the left wing rearwards of the left front wheel behind the splash guard inner lining, the pump on a frame along with the blue vacuum reservoir is easily removable to work on , the top vacuum hose is a known point to split and cause a vacuum leak , so that was also dealt with while i was there ( it was indeed split)
remove this frame, disconnect the electrical plug to the motor and remove the vacuum pipe, it can be fully removed to work on , again the pump from B is around £600 UK , here we go again , i found a pump for an Audi for £50 uk ( ebay sale ) and it is shown next to my original still mounted in the frame,
this really was a case of , remove the old, clean up , check for any issues, reassemble using the identical Audi pump ( even had the same numbers and stickers !) and fit back to the car, mine was noisy , from age and fighting vacuum leaks all the time i presume, new pump is again whisper quiet ( but i know when its running as i have super power hearing, lol) , the repair of the one Vac leak has helped immensely , but still looking for a very minor leak that the vac reservoir cant hold overnight..but the pump stops after 30 seconds during startup , so not a 'full leak' if you see what i mean..
