Any guidance on tire rotation on my 2013 GTC

i'd suggest most people stopped rotating tyres in about 1985.

On a more serious note, do you have rotational tyres, in which case you're gonna have trouble anyway without taking them off the rims

I'm not rotating them, but was curious. I do have a naive question though, why not rotate the rim with the tire, front to back, back to front, on each side?
The dealer claimed I had a two "bent" front wheels, which is not discernible to me in terms of driving or tire wear. That said, I think I was guilty of over inflating the two front
tires having followed the recommended front tire pressure indicated on the door sticker (48 psi!). The ride was way too hard, but I drove to NYC and back to DC with it.

Well I guess there's no reason not to, apart from the effort involved. But to turn it around, what are you hoping to gain?

The tyre pressures on these are the highest of any car I've ever owned. I run mine about that with no issues and no over hardness.

What profiles are you running and what's your stiffness setting?

Tire pressure

From memory, there is a big difference between what the auto sticker says and what the TPMS says.
I set the wheel size, tire type, normal drive (not winter or summer) and perhaps something else and get recommended pressures on the console
much less than the sticker. It was addressed elsewhere on this forum, and opinions were divided on whether to go with the lower pressures or
the higher sticker pressures.

I went with the higher pressures and have to say the ride was very hard although my mileage on the highway was (relatively) outstanding for the W12,
21.8 mpg. I thnk it may have resulted in the dealer claiming some "bent" in the front wheels, as the same dealer had the car before the high pressures
and couldn't find any problem (and believe me they really do try to find something).

My thinking was to put the putatively "bent" front wheels in the rear, where they might not effect the drive, not that I can really detect issues with lower
pressures dictated by the console (36 front 34 rear).

Well the TPMS can be adjusted so it's a bit academic really. I get what you mean, though.

Personally I set the pressures according to the sticker and then set the TPMS to alert on what the sticker says (or a bit below)

Still not having issues running at the 46-48 psi level though.

If you're concerned that your wheels are bent (and I have bent wheels in the past) take it to a tyre shop. It's simple to pop it on a spinner and simply see if they are out of true. And probably fix it. I had it done FOC when I had all 4 wheels re furbished. (Jag FX though)

Thanks

I was thinking that if there was some "bent" wheel on both front, moving them to the rear might diminish whatever adverse effect it had on the handling.
Probably de minimus.

I'd absolutely agree if you can't detect it anyway

The “ bent “ wheel thing is interesting.I took my 04 to a Bentley centre for a health check , about an hrs Labour .
One of the things the tech told me ( sat down in a comfy chair over a coffee) going over the report was buckled wheels .He said they see them all the time on cars coming in and for it to be Bentley approved they need replacing .How ever he then went on to say because there tolerances are high and virtually every service car has them all completely asymptomatic, ie no wobble or vibrations most customers just leave it .He was just obligated to inform me .

Thing is they “bend “ every time the tyre shop changes a tyre .As does AN Other manufacturers alloys as well .
If it’s real bad = vibrations / wobble that the balancer can’t correct = new wheel .

As far as rotation I have noticed the fronts wear faster than the rears .A function of the weight and for me personally a lot of Alpine road use = tight corners often down hill compounding the excess forward weight over the fronts .

So I do rotate a side .Ie swapping rears to fronts and vv to spread the forward wear .Obviously as mentioned ^^ you can not diagonally rotate them due to the direction of rotation , but you can swop ends on the same side.

rotation

Thank you.=, gentlemen.

My experience at the dealer was identical to what you described, John. Interestingly after my first encounter with them, no "bent" wheels were discerned. After 2000 miles on the car, at the second visit, two "bent" wheels identified.
The tech (not the suit) said exactly what you described, John. So I've ignored it too.

John, do you rotate wheel with tire, or just the tires?

(Great video. I've been on some of those Swiss roads, but with a driver in a S Class MB. The Amalfi coast is a seaside equivalent)

I knew when I bent the wheels on my Jag. Two blowouts at the same time.

Both methods as the tyres are changes for winters , so changed 2x yrs .
As per handbook Sumner P zeros and winters Dunlop winter sports .
Happy with std 19s and 40 aspect ratio because I carry chains as well in the winter ( legal requirement in the Alps ) and you need a decent rubber height .
They are not sports cars , track cars far too lardy …they are correctly titled GT s .No need for thin profiles imho .

One set of wheels or a set for summer and a set for winter?
