Will VCDS add this key🤔

Lately on eBay these Chinese knockoff keys with immobilizer chip have been offered. The Bentley part number, chip ID number and the immobilizer chip part number don't quite line up in my book.

Yes we know the used keys on eBay are a joke to reprogram.

For some reason can't get the link to cooperate as usual. Copy the link to clipboard and deposit to the web search and the eBay listing will reveal itself.

Opinions?

I've purchased key fob shells from this seller before and they were as described, just had to transfer over the little circuit board with the chips on it and even was able to turn my 3 button key into a 4 button key, as it had the panic button and required levers and the circuit board had the requisite button, even though it didn't need it. (how it came from bentley.. I suspect, VAG didn't bother manufacturing a different board, just to eliminate a button and just eliminated the button on the shell in order to cut production costs)

I've never purchased one with the electronics, but I'd recommend asking the seller how to go about getting it programmed, as he is in the US and was responsive to my inquiries regarding my purchase. In my case he put me in touch with a locksmith (just for key cutting, in my case) who could do what was needed. (though I ended up using a different locksmith, he did provide an avenue to get things done)

Sorry I couldn't give an actual answer but thought I'd at least share that the seller was legit in my interaction.

edit... the listing states 'Special Notes: Dealer/Locksmith to program and cut the remote key" so perhaps he will just say to take it to the dealer, but maybe he can at least confirm that the internal chip is a fresh 'blank' as far as the programming goes and won't run into the used key issues.

The DIY route looks complicated, but I've not really looked at it closely. From the forum posts, it appears our moderator and resident expert Johnny Hotspur has significant experience with this process, so hopefully he'll chime in with the details.
