Like the title says, are Bentley and it's engines bulletproof reliable? How far can they go on longevity/miles? I have a 2015 Escalade platinum with 270,000 miles since new and undecided whether to get the new 2022 Escalade ESV sport platinum or a 2018 W12 Bentayga. Thanks!

 

Lol! I would think British car owners would own these vehicles as well. I do have a 720s and C8, so I'm just throwing it out there.

 

I bought a 2007 Bentley about 6 months ago. I did a bit of forum searching and read some reviews. In the broadest of terms, and certainly oversimplified, I came to the rough belief that an Audi era Bentley is kind of like an Audi or VW with more stuff in it to go wrong. Bentley charges a premium for Branded parts. The W12 engine is big and makes for difficult access (In other words, lots of labor for basic repairs.)

The Bentayga uses the same platform as the Audi Q7, Audi Q8, Lamborghini Urus, and Porsche Cayenne. Researching that family should give you a general idea of what to expect.

Are they pieces of junk? I don't think so.

Are they brilliantly made rock solid cars? I don't think so.

I was encouraged by reading that a member on this site had owned 2 Continental GTs and both had around 200,000 miles.

In addition to my GT Speed, we have a Bentayga First Edition W12 that the Mrs. drives. Had it a little over a year so far, and no issues. I did buy the CPO for a year just as insurance, but so far she has put maybe 7,000 miles on it without incident.

 

To be clear you have a GM product and are asking if a VW product is reliable?

 

True, I know the VW cannot surpass GM reliability but want to make sure it's not with the Bentley.

Absolutely. Proof positive have only owned 2 GM product both surpassed 200,000 miles without problem bought new FYI. My 3rd GM product I have now is the C8 which I expect to reach the same milestone. Now with the Bentley can I get the same expectation?

 

Their minivans are awesome. Perhaps one of those would better suit you.

 

No minivans for me. Just pure luxury SUV and sports cars. If you do have a Bentley in any form please let me know to make this decision process easy.

 

May I ask which emblem do you have on your on your 15 Escalade? The one with the wreath or the bold Cadillac symbol?

 

I have the 2015i with the bold cadillac symbol, not the wreath. It has 8 speed not 6 speed.

 

Ok same one I have. I’ll just say every manufacturer has their own set of issues.

 

Prices of new 2022 Escalade sport platinum ESV are getting close to used 2017-2018 bentayga, I'm not sure I want to go that route yet since I'm planning to use it on road trips and tow an enclosed trailer for my 720s or my C8.
