Button thing on side of steering column

Hello @British ,
As you stated, "the side of the steering column", it would be as John F linked to, as I believe you are referring to the button right next to the 4 way **** the controls the steering column up/down in/out, that, so that's the exit feature the lifts the steering column up and in, if you meant either of the 2 buttons on either side of the steering wheel, one (standard) is as Larry stated, for the lights of the buttons on the steering wheel itself, the other (optional) button is for the heated steering wheel if so equipped.

I'll get a pic next time I'm in it. It's just an unmarked, black momentary push button that didn't seem to do anything when I pressed it. I had read that it might be a steering wheel heater but I have no idea if my car had that option.
I'll take a pic and you guys can let me know. It's probably in the owners manual somewhere.
I did discover the "kick down" switch under the gas pedal, had no idea that was there.
And Johnny, the mirror glass is working great, I changed it in a Costco parking lot.

It's right by the column adjustment. It doesn't seem to do anything when pressed. I haven't dug through the owner's manual.
And I hate to post this picture because my carpet is stained. I tried to buy the OEM carpet from Flying Spares, they sent this instead, which is aftermarket, cheap, and became immediately stained. It was expensive too. Maybe I'll do the wool carpet, but I feel like I have to be in a more moderate climate.

the small black button in the picture above is for the auto adjustment of the steering wheel to the exit/entry position for getting in and out of the car, the button is pressed, the car gets told you have selected that function on/off , until pressed agin overriding the previous selection
the instruction manual really does explain it

"I haven't dug through the owner's manual."
You have a manual (many don't who post questions) and didn't check it?
Reminds me of the boy in front of a PC who calls his grammy from his cell phone to her land line to bring him a grape soda

Manual is in the glovebox, car is valet parked, I only think of it when I'm by my computer? I guess I could go tip the guy to bring my car up, but I figured someone friendly would know right off the bat. And I was right!
