As others have said one or more of the sensors are slightly out of alignment.Gets a jerk when the wheel hangs when the car is lifted .
So when it’s back down initially it thinks there’s a fault .= error msg .
How ever once it’s run on the ground for 15 secs or so because the sensor actually works within the normal range , detects the movement the error msg disappears spontaneously.Mine does this always has in the past 5 years ownership.

A lot do this I was advised by my techs to ignore it .
My Indy B specialist sees it a lot .
You can end up chasing shadows replacing them .Leave it .

I guess you could ask a tech to hook it up to the computer and re calibrate it all , that’s time consuming as measurements will need to be done .
And the next time a suspension arm is replaced or other suspension works done you could be back to square one .
As I said end up chasing your tail .

I think they have one guy they like to let work on them. Wojtek always works on my Phaeton and Bentley.

Good call on FMU. Wojtek is the guy looking at it. I really like this place. Kinda wanna look at one of these car garage or condos here at Iron Gate.

So looks like the bushings in the front need to be replaced. They want to use only OEM parts and Bentley doesn’t sell just the bushings. Not sure wanna pay $4100 for parts alone just to pay Bentley prices for Audi parts. You can see it stamped in some of the parts. Waiting too see if I can supply the parts and have them install.

I can tell you that when I redid the front suspension on my Phaeton, they let me bring in my own parts for the work. They installed this kit for me:

https://www.europaparts.com/ultimate...t-phaeton.html

Maybe there's a similar aftermarket application for your car. FMU has given me a little static about bringing my own parts in before, but they let me do it sometimes for my Phaeton. Maybe they figure it isn't worth much so they let me source my own parts. But I can see their position - last thing they want to see is a non-OEM part failing and they get sued or have to do the work over for free.

But looks like things are getting a little better for your car.....

I found OEM for $825 rather than $4100. Hope they will let that work. Anyone done this work themselves? Tempted to take it on myself.

Ohh forgot to mention that the techs saw no codes related to the transmission in the cars computer. That guy must have literally made everything up. WTF.

Scary. Imagine how much work he would have done trying to fix a problem that didn't exist.

Don't know if it is too far for you or not, but Lake Barrington Motorsports will work on these and they will let you bring Audi parts. I specifically asked them about this first time I took mine there, because I hate this game from indies.

Some shops I know won't spend 5 minutes cross indexing part numbers. I get that you only want to warranty quality stuff, but it's the same damn part. Like if I just wanted to pay 4x part prices I'd just go to the dealer.

I don't have professional Bentley scan tools but I do know with STAR Xentry (MB) or SDD (Jaguar) you can find module specific events or codes that normal scanners can't find. From my experience they are usually low level faults related to power interruptions, but they can look scary and possibly be exploited by a dishonest mechanic.

You can get Lemforder/Moog bushings for Audi A8 W12 for cheap. I'm not 100% sure they fit and someone will have to check me on that. But it's like $10 for 2 bushings, insanely inexpensive if it works and probably worth a try. Control arms don't really go bad, just ball joints and bushings.

So I ordered the parts and should have them by Monday, scheduled an appointment with FMU for the 25th but I may check out the place in Lake Barrington. So the parts cost me $825 + $20 for shipping. I plan to check them out when I get them since they were advertised as OEM. I do expect some Audi logos. FMU charges ~$175 p/h for exotics but since I am sourcing the parts myself they said it will be at the rate of $200 p/h since they won't be sourcing the parts. I am guessing this is how the can make up a bit for the piece they would have made of the sale of the parts. As for labor, it was quoted at 11 hours to completely replace all 8 control arms in the front.

When they had the car up on the lift I actually got to see the bushings cracked and separated. They also provided me a detailed inspection with photos. As for the upcharge for bringing my own parts irks me a bit but maybe that's not uncommon. I am not trying to be cheap with the service and you need to pay for the experience.

Basically, I am expecting around $3000-3500 all in.

On the bright side, I got to take a good look at the underside of my GT while they had it on the lift and it looked pretty clean. I was impressed. I was worried I was gonna see rust spots and worn-out exhaust.

So I just got some of the parts in that are supposed to be OEM but I don't see any markings on them and the bags show made in China or Turkey. Looks like one may show some use but can't be sure. Looks like they misrepresenting the parts. Trying to decide if i should return them or use them.

When I looked up the part number on the bag.

Good call on Barrington Motorsports. They didn’t have any issue with me supplying parts and a much better hourly rate of $135 vs FMU jacked up $200 p/h because I’m supplying the parts.
