Emisson Control Warning Lamp 2013 GTC

What is likely to be involved in resolving this? I see no impairment in the car performance.

Thank you, I will check. I thought of that as well. I will advise.

Ecu

Regretfully, the cap is nicely secured.

Gas was filled a month ago and no warning. til this morning. So it was very, very, unlikely.
Relax.

Anyone less irritable opine on this? Perhaps I should have said "assuming it's not a loose gas cap...."

Even a basic OBD scanner will probably tell you what's going on. Otherwise we're all guessing, if less irritable....

much less irritable, thanks
no scanner, just a weekend end user, so I'll bundle the diagnostics with the annual service next month and report back

A basic one would set you back about $20. For $250 ish you could get dealer level diagnostics. Might be worth considering.....

Correct me if I'm wrong: I'd still need to take the car to the shop after the scan?

That would depend on what the error actually was, and if you do any of your own spannering....

It would certainly (help) answer your original question.....

I'm beginning to consider getting the scanner. The reports I see on this forum are overwhelming to me, but I suppose it's not brain surgery.

Well the full report from something like VCDS is pretty heavy duty. A simple ($20) OBDII scanner will be all you need to get an idea on this problem (OBDII is a mandated standard. Pretty much anything that throws the engine waring light will report in a way that a cheapy scanner can read. There are caveats to this but...)

It'll give you a Pnnnn code which the miracle of Google will tell you is something like (perhaps) Secondary air system flow too low. Which then the rest of us can got 'AhHa!''

At least that's the plan!

Thanks.

Being able to clear the interval service light would be worth an extra $150+
I'm watching some of the Ross-Tech videos. Having experienced a convertible
top stopping half mast, which turned out to be two metal hinges needing tightening,
more information may be worth it from the Ross-Tech.

Just be careful with the expert functions and you'll be good.

There's a huge amount of resource out there for VCDS as well

re: ECU dash light

An error code for the emission temperature control was found along with two totally unrelated codes...
We're going to clear them and see what happens. New batteries were installed in the last 6 months,
but the car not used very much in the last month. The car runs flawlessly as always. I will report back.

Seems like random electrical faults.
