V8s Grinding Noise at Front Wheel/s
Hi Guys,
I have a GTC V8s along with the big ceramic brakes. Every now and then I get a terrible grinding noise, which sounds like it comes from the front wheels, when the vehicle is turning. This only happens very rarely, it is not all the time and can occur when the vehicle has only covered a short distance or perhaps when it has covered alot of distance, say 50 miles. I have had it back to the dealer a couple of times onto the ramp for inspection of the brakes and discs, they have also had it out for road test drives but found nothing, typical!!!
It sounds very "metal on metal" when it happens and is quite horrible to be honest. The car has also low profile tires on 21" wheels and does suffer from road noise when the road surface is less than perfect. On the M25 it sounds horrendous, to the point where it is difficult to talk above the level of the noise. I should say though that I do not think the two issues are related.
really looking for someone that has had the same or similar. The garage has no problem fixing it, we just need to find out what it is?

Limited slip diffs can end up grinding when turning .
Its more of a lubricant issue in the box or lack of .Suspect the B version is governed by electrotwackery, shed loads of sensors etc .
Normally the oil has to have the correct amount of slipping agent otherwise it’s possible in certain turns on the throttle with certain grip levels varying with the tyres that you hear the plates grinding …..a metallic sound .
I would be looking at that the diff(s)
As well as each axial there will a diff for front / back as well .
An oil change usually sorts it .Well it does with Ferraris .
Incidentally are you on Bentley hand book rubber as recommended with those 21 s ? .

Hi John,
Will pass this on to my mechanic. Bit surprised that he didn't check all lubricant levels etc. when I took it into him to look at. Bit annoyed to be very honest, I would of thought that this was pretty standard stuff to be honest. The last couple of times it has gone out it seems to be happening again, but only after a bit of driving time.
The tires are P Zeros.
