Andorid Auto in Original Screen
Good morning from Spain, I recently saw that a forum user is installing a Tesla screen in his first generation GT. I'm still looking for something that gives me Android on the same original screen that the car has. I am a conservative and it gives me respect to lose the original menu of the car, it also gives me more reliability even though I know that the size and resolution is worse.
My question is, has anyone on the forum managed to post something like this? They have offered it to me but without a touch screen, which would also fit me.

See PDF in post #11 for how to do it and post# 12 for a brief demo. In a nutshell, the stock screen is replaced with a touch screen and high res display that can switch back and forth from the factory menus or an android device (or your desired flavor) that uses the new touch screen and high resolution display.

Cost is minimal, complexity is not so tough, but for those who aren't used to DIY, the effort and learning curve isn't super steep, but learnable. However, I can understand how is a major turn off for the vast majority of folks as there are plug and play options available, some of which have much larger screens.
For me, maintaining the factory appearance was a must, since I like it and also easy to upgrade by getting a newer low voltage device like a media hub with a newer version of android os or faster cpus, etc. (unplug usb connections, hdmi connection, microphone/headphone connections and replace device. Done)

on that touch screen there is a small border with contacts on it. it really pisses me off using it. But i really like arduino srtup for input changing on screen. that syste, in fact is portable for a lot of retro cars ) but ,y choice is much more cheaper and stock returnable if i decide to sell my car)

In the end I did the installation of Android Auto and I was quite happy with the result, I don't know what you will think. You can take a look at the other post that I put with the same name by mistake.
