Good afternoon, I don't know the model of what they installed me, I also think that it is somewhat more complicated than Plug and play because the sound was difficult to get out and some other piece had to be installed but I am not an expert in the matter. I was never told the name of the components, I can't help you with that, but I can provide you with the contact of the person who installed it for me in case someone is interested in contacting him.

To say that my original Bentley navigator was disconnected to use its input in android auto, I didn't care as it is so outdated.

I watched the video and I am 99% sure this is the XCarlink system. Again it has a number of different options right up to a
DVD player. At its basic level it is just bluetooth and audio.
When you add the carplay options you get a daughter board that inserts in the ribbon cable to the stock display and a touch screen panel that is used for the carplay functions.
A switch toggles the display between the stock system and the android/ios module.
You have to pull the radio and do the mod which is shown briefly in the video. That is not very hard if you have any electronics experience. BUT
At the end of the day you end up with pretty much a stock system visually and functionally.

I believe the system is actually made by NVC in Korea. I think Xcarlink is a distributor.
I have tried working with NVC directly but they are not very good at direct customer facing.

As always, your mileage may vary.

There are a number of them at very reasonable prices on Aliexpress if you don't mind buying direct from China... $315!

You can do like I just did and spend 30 seconds searching the aliexpress.com site to come up with a number of options like this one among many others:

In favor of the installed system I have to say that:
1) Everything is completely camouflaged, the original aesthetic does not change.
2) Nothing fails, it does not fall, nor does it freeze.
3) The price was just over €1,500 with everything installed, including the front camera.

There are several things against it:
1) The screen resolution could be quite a bit better.
2) To activate the sound I have to hit another button so that it comes out through the speakers and select a radio channel.
3) The installation, I don't understand much but I think some welding had to be done.

- the discussion / question is how to do it with original infotainment - without even adding touch screen mod -> 30sec to get the context - can you? I respect you, but your answers and comments does not help.

- unless you want to tell me that this - what you found in 30sec - can be applied to original infotainment system & display - then pls describe how to do it and any reference would be appreciated.

yes I found them too, they were asked for any update, if available, confirm price, do they still sell it, etc - no answer at all... hard to purchase and give them $$$ if they do not respond at all.
if you were able to establish communication with them, pls inform... and what was the experience with contact with them - even this limited.

Hello @sdekoning ,

There is another approach to getting Apple CarPlay or Android Auto with a touch screen and front and back cameras, that doesn’t require removing anything. It may not be too everyone’s liking, but it worked for me. I installed this in my 2004 GT.

10.26 Inch Wireless Apple Carplay Android Auto Portable Car Stereo, 2.5K Dash Cam IPS Touchscreen, Android Auto Car Play Screen for Car 1080P Backup Camera.

There are other units available, but I liked this one based upon functionality and price.

I was able to hide all the wires from the trunk through to the unit, except where I had to have them go over the dash, where I put them in braided sleeving.

I have the unit setup so that it records all the time, and when and displays the back when going into reverse. I have the audio setup to play is the inbuilt FM transmitter and as a backup I can use the Bluetooth audio that I installed replacing the disk changer in the glovebox.

again this may not be too everyone’s taste, but I didn’t want to replace my existing unit, or to tinker with it, or have to use a joystick to click trough on the menu items.
