Solenoid on starter…hit it with something hard in case it is just stuck…still could be starter,,,and nowadays if solenoid they still force you to buy starter/solenoid as a unit.

Sorry a poll won't solve your problems.

The car needs to be scanned for the appropriate trouble codes. Invest in a Ross Tech vcds scanner . The generic scanners will not give enough information.

The starter is inaccessible ( for tapping on). Probably not the problem anyway.

The standing voltage of 11.7V is a charging system issue and/or a bad battery. Further investigation required. The car will not function properly at that voltage.

Agree, agree, agree with Mr. Eric here.

11.7v is below the threshold voltage (11.8v) that many modules need to fully boot up and function. If you're reading 11.7v at the "new" batteries, then something is keeping them from charging. I'd spend some time on this if it were my car....and strongly suggest you don't beat on the starter...even if you can reach it with a hammer....

As Eric stated, w/o a comprehensive scan tool such as VCDS that will read more than P-xxxx codes, you're at a loss where to start. If it were me and I had no way of diagnosing, I'd start by recharging the batteries back up to 12.3v or more, then try a restart. If it does start, then work on why they're not being recharged.

Make sure you charge properly. Positive on 1 battery and negative on the other as illustrated in the owner's manual. After leaving my car for a couple weeks, I tried to start it after only charging one battery that I believe was for the starter. Could not get the job done. After charging both batteries together, everything worked fine.
