My 05 CGT 32k miles, is running ok but throws 2 codes, exhaust temperature sensor and AC. My repair guy tells me its one of the computers and one of the chips is failing, its the chip that manages several sensors, 2 of which are failing. Car is drivable but no AC so in Texas thats like not drivable till October.

My repair guy advises the dealer will sell me a new computer but they insist on programming it and to expect about $6k. He has however found a local guy who repairs computers of this nature and can do the job but he cannot source the chip at the moment.

Any ideas where I might source these chips or the whole computer without using dealer.

Most likely one of the EGT sensors is bad. The part is about $500.00 + labor. The trouble code will confirm.

The A/C code will help to determine what is wrong.

Not sure why the mechanic is stating: "the computer is at fault"? Does not compute in my book.

The EGT sensor chip (pcb board) can be changed. This is another discussion once we know more.

Yeah 'the computer is bad' sounds like a cop out from a mechanic who can't find the problem.
