07 Air Condition Issue

Took my 07 to my independent mechanic. They always do great work without the dealer price gouge.

My air conditioning has quit working. Compressor, which appears to be new, won’t kick on.

The mechanic said he narrowed it down to a control module which would need to be replaced and reprogrammed at a dealer.

I know this isn’t much information, but does anyone have any other perspective or ideas?

Is the control module compatible with an Audi or VW part?

Thanks for any advice you may have.

First thing to do to narrow this down prior to throwing yourself at the mercy of the dealer is to buy a Ross-Tech scanner and download the error codes. Without knowing what the car is telling itself, we can't do any sort of online trouble-shooting.

Buy the Ross-Tech, then post the results.

It is very possible that it is a module, I had a weird problem where it strarted to throw out moist, warm air on a hot day. I stopped the car, put it in park, turned the car off, took the key out, then started it back up and everything worked fine. So "CNTL-ALT-DEL" can work, this thing is so computer-controlled.

If the Ross-Tech says "module XXX" you'll know more.
