New noise

New noise
OK, my 2007 Conti GT lost almost all of its radiator coolant after a lower hose disconnected (clip wasn't fully installed). Now I am working on purging the last little bit of air from the system but I am getting a strange sound. It sounds like a loud pump of some kind in the brake booster area. It comes on and goes off with no rhyme or reason. Oh and when it does, the temp gauge almost immediately goes from 200 to 250.

Upon further testing, the temp rises independently from the noise. Noise comes and goes.
For those in the know, what kind of "pump" is in the area of the brake booster? (left side US car) What else in that area could be making that noise?
I hope that when I finally get all of the air out of the cooling system that the temp spike will go away. It's almost like the temp sensor is having issues or some sort of bubble is being trapped near the sensor. Lotta questions.
Any ideas?

Hello @2007Conti ,
As far as a pump sound, the vacuum pump is located on the drivers side, down at the lower part of the fender, remove the wheel house liner to access it, there are 2 coolant pumps located on the vehicle also, 1 being on the top of the transmission, the other below the drivers side headlight, the ds is also accessible from the wheel liner.

Well, it turns out that it wasn't my vacuum pump or system. I looked under the cowl cover right near the brake booster and that's where I found a water pump. There wasn't one under the headlight. Must have changed the location in 2007 or so. Anyway, this makes sense because it was making a loud racket and not staying on continuously as it is supposed to. Getting it out wasn't too bad and I have another on the way.
I'll let y'all know if this fixes both the noise and the cooling problem, but it all makes sense.

@2007Conti ,
That's very interesting, and I hope I did not give improper direction as to location below the headlight, it's shown in the attached picture of Zaos's blue GT, that is if you actually have one there.
What I find interesting, is that other's here including myself, have always wondered what the extra plug was for located in the driver's side cowl area, along with the mounting bracket, pictured is my 2005 GT cowl area showing the empty bracket, and the extra plug, nor do I have any coolant lines in that side of the cowl, it would interesting if you have both, and maybe the extra cowl pump is for a hot climate setup, as none of the 2005 - 2007 GT's that I have dismantled, had a pump there, but as you say, it may just be a 2007 update, be it early or late.

Yep, that's the plug. And get this, I have a plug in the area of where you told me to look and it has baffled me for months. No bracket there, just a plug that goes to nothing. At some point they changed locations or maybe it's a regional thing. Just glad that I didn't go nuts searching for it I just looked where the noise was coming from.
