Lowering CGT
Hello,
I own a 2004 CGT.
The other day I saw a beautiful CGT in dark blue, it may have been new or a year old, what I really liked was the alloys wheels and no space in the wheel arches.
My car has 20inch wheels and a big gap in the wheel arches at the front and a slightly bigger one at the back.
I know I can bigger alloys and if I change to bigger tyres. I will change speed setup via the vcds, however..
Is there a way to lower the car without new springs and if so how will the ride affected.
Thanks

Go through the calibrations as per youtube, attached bellow using a smaller measurement to lower stance. Note original standing height to revert to need be. Yes the procedure is the same for early BGT's.

I stand corrected. Never knew they had something like that. How is the ride? I can imagine it’s no different then these run flats I’m riding on now 😂

Hello @Excited owner ,
The GT does not have springs in the sense that you can change them out, like a coil spring, we have air bladders over our struts, I know some call them "air springs", but even then, there is no changing of these to lower the vehicle, you would use as stated, Ross-Tech VCDS to lower by adding false numbers to make the suspension control module think that the vehicle is to high, but, that can only work to a certain point on the Bentley, unlike the large amount of lowering it can do on an A8L W12, I did 25 mm rear, and 15 mm front lowering on my A8L W12, so I never needed the lowering links on that vehicle, but on the GT, the system did allow some lowering, but not to where I wanted it, just shy, so I added the links.
Hello @TeamJones1962 ,
Here are the links I used, you can see the length of the straight rear links as I set them, compared to the original plastic rears, the new fronts have the red covering, I added some pictures to show the stance as lowered.
I noticed no difference in ride quality, but I didn't go extremely low on the GT, now on the other hand with my A8L W12 which has more level settings, lift, comfort, automatic, and dynamic, dynamic did get a little bouncy if I lowered more than 25 mm in the rear, and 15 mm in the front, the dynamic is for the highway, as is the auto which drops the A8L at highway speeds, odd that the Bentley GT does not seem to do that, I mean, my A8L will tell me that the vehicle is lowering if I have that menu up, or by the little green lowering light, and if I park it in dynamic, it warns me at start up that the vehicle is lowered, whereas the Bentley does none of that, only gives a message if you manually raise the vehicle, then tells you that the vehicle is lowering and has reached normal height, makes me wonder if the Bentley lowers automatically at highway speeds like the A8L for a better ride and control..

Not sure if it's necessary, but I have read these links can get rusty and I suspect that's the reason for the red covering on the new/updated ones.
To avoid that, even though I got the newer ones, I sprayed the outside with polyurethane after adjusting and put a thin layer of grease in the ball sockets.
edit...
Also, much pricier, but an automated solution:

I believe it works by intercepting the sensor data and fooling the computer, and does allow for adjustment without getting under the car. Controlled by phone app and can have multiple speed based heights.
