Cross Country
Just got back from CA with a new ride.
Traded my 2012 in on this 2014 Speed. Got to spend three days on the road by myself driving my 2012 to Tucson to trade it in.
Very nice upgrade.
Picked it up in Tucson, drove it out to Fontana, CA to meet up with the Boss and meet my new grandson (#6). We just finished the drive back to MD and it is a great car. Really pleased with the upgrade.

While I expected improvement I was stunned with the difference. I was truly amazed by the performance of my 2012, but that car was an absolute pig compared to the 2014. The rolling resistance of the 6 speed v. the 8 speed is significant or at least it was in my case. The instant you let off the accelerator of the 2012 the car would slow almost as if you were slightly braking. Not so with the Speed, I almost got in trouble a couple of times on the drive back because the new car wasn't reacting the same way. The new transmission combined with the increased HP (620) and T (590) transforms the car from something special into truly amazing. The handling and ride are similar, but the Speed's ride seems slightly stiffer. The acceleration is something to experience and I believe this car will do every bit of the claimed 205 MPH top speed. I only had it slightly north of 130 MPH during passing situations, but the car was incredibly stable and would happily cruise there all day long. I spent most of the trip between 85 and 90 MPH and the new top gear kept the RPMs around 1800. I was averaging nearly 21 MPG all the way across. The only issue I have with the car, will start another thread to address it, is the ACC. The system appears to work just fine until 6-8 hours into the drive day when it suddenly becomes "unavailable". I haven't had it up on the ramps to look at anything underneath so I don't know yet if I will find something obvious causing the problem. Really happy with the trade, but DO NOT EVER trust the guys at The Car Lot in Tucson, AZ. PM me if you want details.
