Bentayga W12 Keyless Not Working Correctly
Hi all
The keyless entry on my 2016 Bentayga W12 isn’t functioning correctly, it’s fine putting my hand into the handle to unlock the car but pressing the small recess in the handle to lock it does nothing on all 4 doors now.
It locks and unlocks fine with the key fob and was ok until recently, I assume all 4 handles didn’t fail at the same time, will it be the antenna? Odd that it still opens just fine so wanted to ask you guys?
It has dropped to freezing temperatures recently but since it opens ok I told myself the handles aren’t affected by ice.
Thanks
Carl

Probably a dumb question, but have you tried replacing the battery in the key fob? The same thing happened with my Mercedes truck a few weeks ago, the key wasn't even recognized in my pocket from time to time. Once I replaced the battery in the key fob everything was fine again. We've also been having cold temperatures here in Sweden, not sure if that's part of it.

Hi, I haven’t to be honest, just assumed that since it locks and unlocks fine with the key, unlocks with the handle ok and no messages on the dash about key batteries that it wasn’t that, they were changed September 21 at the last service, it’s due another service now.
Maybe the cold has contributed, didnt think it would be just the close function but maybe it is?
Thanks for the suggestion

Hello @carlosC4S ,
Being that you can unlock the door by grabbing the handle, then your key-fob battery is fine, I just recently tested this scenario for another member here, and as you said, I doubt that all 4 door handle buttons failed simultaneously.
Is it possible that you have another keyfob for this vehicle somewhere inside the vehicle, a secondary key-fob left in the vehicle would stop the keyless entry system from allowing you to lock the vehicle by keyless methods (the button on the door handle), but allows the key-fob buttons on the fob in your hand to lock the vehicle because it is an actual command sent by a fob from the exterior of the vehicle, whereas the keyless entry system fob is saying, "hey, I am still inside the car, don't lock me in", which in turn would lock you out of the vehicle.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion, the other key stays at home, so can’t be that.
If I keep trying I randomly get a little bit more success on the drivers side (RHD), but nothing on the passenger side.

Do you have Ross-Tech VCDS to scan the vehicle ?
And you are sure 100% that the other key is home, how about the valet key ?

The Bentayga is an oval impression in the handle rather than a button, can’t be pressed in really.
I don’t have any software to read the car, given the huge lack of parts availability outside of the Bentley network for the Bentayga W12 specifically I assumed there wouldn’t be any aftermarket scan tools that are worth bothering with.
Here in the UK I find that even Bentley specialists don’t want to bother with a Bentayga, too new tech for most apparently

Hello @carlosC4S ,
I did not see any response to the last question of my questions.
"Are you sure 100% as to the other key being home, how about the valet key ?"

Hi Jonny sorry for the delayed reply, Im sure there’s no key inside, if I take my key from my pocket and lock the car it works fine, just not by pressing the handle to lock keyless. I did think it did it once with the key close up in my hand and my finger could lock from the handle but not when it’s in my pocket.
