Battery Maintainer

My 2014 continental
Well here's an interesting tidbit. Since getting the car 4 months ago, the green "maintain mode" LED indicator on the charger has never lit up. The best I've seen is the final stage "almost full" orange LED. A few hours after cleaning the magnetic disk under the lip of the boot lid the green LED finally lit up! Once again, thanks Tony, for solving a problem I didn't even know I had.

Typically any contact cleaner spray will do the job. CTEK chargers are notorious for acting up whenever there's even a slightest problem with connection to the battery - it may be any of the connectors, including the rectangular 2-pole one in the charging cable. The 7A models can also overheat the connectors, I recently had to cut a half-melted off and solder the wires together. It's also not a bad idea to apply some dielectric grease to all connectors once they're clean, to prevent oxidation.
I just found an OEM battery maintainer in a bag next to the spare tire, courtesy of the previous owner. Neat, but a close inspection of the connector revealed moderate oxidation and I'll definitely give it an once-over before even considering hooking it up. So far I've used generic, similar 7A CTEK and a couple of others (10A and 25A) to keep the batteries charged, the PnP OEM maintainer makes everything a bit easier.

My personal favorite is PRF 7-78, but any spray with "contact cleaner" in its name works. CRC Contact Cleaner Plus, WD40 Contact Cleaner, Motip Contact Cleaner and so on. Available at pretty much any auto parts or electronics store anywhere.
