Erratic shifting in drive

Hey guys,
My 2007 Continental GT has been down for the last 6 months waiting for me to replace the bank 2 turbo boost controller. Got that in and now I have two apparent problems:

1: Code p2279 Intake air system leak
Code p1914 Pressure sensor for brake booster
Code p1923 Check DTC memory of engine control Module (ECM) 2

2: Erratic transmission shifting while in Drive. Shifts perfectly with the paddle shifters but sometimes shifts great and sometimes goes to over 4K RPMs before shifting up.

Before the turbo boost problem the transmission shifted smooth as butter. I had to partially remove the radiator and core support to get to the turbo sensor and was thinking maybe I didn't connect some sort of intake or vacuum hose or something. Removed the airbox and reinstalled it. Cleaned the MAF sensor while I was at it. No joy. Still an intake leak of some sort. While driving it still doesn't feel like both turbos are kicking in but the code for the turbo controller is now gone. No other codes. No tranny codes.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I found a way to keep from totally disconnecting the radiator, evaporator and cooler when I replaced the boost controller and I am going to post pictures. Still kind of a ***** of a job but.

Without a TCM fault code it is a guess. The solenoids in the transmission can fail and can cause delayed shifting. However this process of evaluating isn't advisable at this point because of lack of data. That said have someone who knows the proper way to check the fluid level and consider a filter and fluid change.....this is the first step in my opinion.

OK ,thanks. That's as good a place to start as any. Not sure when the last time the tranny was serviced but the previous owner kept it in pristine condition.

OK, a little bit of an update:

The code p1914 Pressure sensor for brake booster was figured out. When I rerouted my vacuum lines last year, somehow I ended up circumventing this sensor. Sensor put back into the vacuum system. One less thing to deal with. I also "reset" the tranny through my RossTech and will know more about if that did anything to help or not a little later today.

Well, after all of the work, I still have the same problem; Car cranks up and drives 100% for the first few minutes then at the first stop light the RPMs drop below 500, engine light comes on and the vehicle goes into some sort of limp mode, thus the shifting problems. Codes given are 06435 Check DTC memory of ECM module 2 and 06420 Pressure sensor for brake booster implausible signal.

So far I have done 6 smoke tests on both sides of the engine, replaced the brake booster pressure sensor, replaced the purge solenoid. The ONLY place I can find any smoke leaking is when I turn the smoke back into the booster pump. Then I get smoke out of the bottom. I believe that I am still getting some kind of leak in the intake but was told that smoke from the bottom of the pump is normal. Is it?

Hello Ron,
EDIT: I stand corrected, smoke out of the pump is standard. .

The bottom of the vacuum pump is the motor housing that turns the vacuum pump at the top, the bottom is sealed, and the top only has the port for the vacuum line to hook up.

Have you checked to make sure the the plastic vacuum line that runs around the bottom of the pump has not worn through, I see two different types of protection on the line, one picture shows two smaller and thinner pieces (in my opinion) that may have worn through, whereas my GT has a large thick one piece sleeve over the line for protection.

Edit: Also, where are you hooking up the smoke machine line ?

Johnny

Johnny,
This is the same look that I am getting. I didn't take the pump out of the housing to look behind it. What could this be? Looks like I will be taking this out of the mount for a closer look. I'm hooking the smoke to the top just opposite to where I hooked it up to check the rest of the vacuum system.

@2007Conti ,
I stand corrected, I just had texts with Jason Giannetti, and he stated that smoke coming out of the pump is normal, as it does exhaust air to make vacuum.

Not sure why my pump didn't blow any air out, but Jason @Bentley Tech NC is the person to know for sure !

Does he know if there is some sort of check valve in or around that pump that can fail, allowing vacuum to be lost?

@2007Conti ,
There is a check valve right in the line coming from the pump.
