05 battery area old vent pipe?

Hi, Just bought an 05 Bentley continental gt while sorting/checking the car over came the apparently usual split spoiler drain pipe and a spare wheel well swimming pool! Also a 1/2 inch of water in the starter battery area, had it all out to dry and clean, came across a black pipe not connected to anything my best guess is a redundant battery vent pipe could anyone confirm this also came across a small plastic item anyone got an idea what it is and where it goes?
Many thanks Chris.

Small plastic item found in battery area

Unattached black plastic hose from batter area

The small tube is a battery vent pipe. Not sure what you mean by "redundant", unless your batteries both have one fitted? I had both tubes in my 2014FS, but neither was attached to the battery! The other item appears to be part of a trim piece (hardboard panels) attachment cam. Mine are two piece; one piece is what you turn and on the back side there is a plastic piece that catches to hold the trim in place. My guesses! I hope everything dries fine!

Hi, Many thanks for the confirmation, the battery currently fitted has no where for a vent pipe so temporarily redundant.
Regards Chris.

Please check your battery carefully and make sure the vent is not plugged. Many are shipped with removable plugs on both sides to accommodate installation of a vent on either side. The correct battery for this vehicle would have a vent port and I would anticipate it extends the life of the battery.

Hi thanks for the advice the battery manufacturers spec makes a deal over roll over leak proof design but doesn't mention anything about requirements for a vent, however there is a small hole where a vent would normally be I did assume this to be blind moulding hole but I've popped the vent pipe into it, if nothing else it looks neater! Also thanks for the ID on the plastic clip it is a battery access panel cam but all mine are Intact so I've got a spare.
Many thanks Chris
