05 RHD Continental GT Rack Replacement
Hi After a steering rack leak I've replaced the rack on my RHD 05 Continental GT.. To remove and replace the rack I had to lower the engine and gearbox at least 10mm using the mounting bolts also one of the power steering pipes had to be gently straightened to enable removal and replacement. Lowering the engine and gearbox just and I mean just gave enough clearance the main issue is the bracket for the electrical connector. I used an offcut of electric cable capping to help guide the rack and protect the various pipes and cables

The problem bracket.
The 3rd bolt !!! I had some concerns about getting this bolt back in but it actually wasn't that bad or maybe I was just lucky this time, to get the bolt back I used a right lash up of gear a couple of 1/4 flexy drives ,1/4 to 3/8 adapter , 3/8 universal joint (tapped up to give a little stiffness) and a 18mm socket with a little bit of rag to keep the bolt in place.
The lash up used for the 3rd bolt
Also used a mirror on a flexy pole to almost see what I was doing!
The pinch bolt for the steering column was removed/replaced in a different method from Adrenalinejunky he bravely did it from the foot well I'm not that flexible!, I opted to push the rubber boot back into the car which gave me good access.
Steering column pinch bolt
The replacement took two hours working on my own just to get the rack back in connected to the column and the 3 bolts back in . Lastly a picture of my old rack I'm surprised it leaked as little as it did!
Nasty old rack.
Regards Chris.

@robob ,
Right hand drive vs. Left hand drive.
RHD VS LHD, across the pond, where they drive on the wrong side of the road... 🤣 JK @TimeforaTee1 ,
Very nice write-up !
