Hello all. I had a 2007 Bentley GTC mk1 that I sold recently and miss terribly. I’ve been looking for an mk2 V8S for a while but haven’t found one that meets my criteria. However I’ve came across an mk2 W12 Speed that does.
Does anyone have any experience with both? How do they compare?
Is the Speed compromised in terms of comfort? I heard some mention a droning sound at certain rpms.
I was focusing on the V8S because of improved drive-ability and mpg. But the Speed does seem to have that extra bit more of a wow factor.

 

FWIW, I was on a market for a Bentley for quite some time, the better part of three years, and after driving a Speed I didn't even consider a non-Speed anymore. A slight difference in NVH wasn't an issue compared to the overall feel, particularly handling and behavior on power. It's not plush, per se; just solid without being the slightest bit uncomfortable. I haven't noticed droning at any speed, I just drove mine close to 1000 miles in Germany, a lot of which pretty close to 200mph and can't even remember paying much attention to the engine noise. It's still way, way quieter than my wife's RS6 Plus.

Unfortunately I don't have experience with the V8:s as I limited my options to W12 only. The gas mileage is barely in double digits with my rather heavy right foot so I just might consider the V8 in the future, even though the combination of power and torque of the W12 is addictive.
