Parking sensors on a 2013 Bentley Continental GT Speed
Good afternoon,
I recently acquired a very used 2013 Continental GT Speed with parking sensor behavior I find odd. As I read the manual, the parking sensors turn on whenever it is shifted into reverse or when manually turned on with the button on the dashboard. It seems odd that they don't activate automatically except in reverse. After all, the front of the car comes close to things as often as the back...maybe even more. I would be willing to accept this peculiarity if it weren't that they do occasionally come on when driving forward toward, or between, objects. For example, today, they came on as I pulled forward into a parking space at the market but when I drove home through a narrow garage door and crept up to the wall, it was silent. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to when the front will come on except that the front sensors come on, as per the manual, if I shift into reverse or if I shift into reverse and then move forward once they are already on.
The manual is a little vague on some things so maybe I misunderstood and it is an older car that had been rode hard and hung up wet so the system could be broken.
Any advice? Any thoughts? All advice is welcome and encouraged.

Do your front sensors seemingly randomly activate? It’s a weird system, but I’m willing to have to press the button. It is the random activation that makes me wonder.

Yes lol.

Moisture, dirt, corrosion on sensor side, short to ground from time to time can make this crazy things.
Obviously it can be also smth wrong with the module but more probable is the sensor side issue.
Check it via vcds - there should be something.
As i know there are universal sensors which works so do not need to get bentley-taxed stuff.

Frank - it is good you tolerate it - life is less stressful - but the facts are that you have smth wrong with the system.

The LH head light washer and the boot logo switch have been a pain in the a$$ from day one.

Well, you can either choose to put up with these gremlins or get assistance here on how to fix them. In either case, they are not normal operation.
