Hello and welcome.
There are some great bargains out there.
I would imagine you might have a few issues to put right at that price but what car for under 10k can you get that will match a Bentley.
You have joined the best forum if your going to do the work yourself.

Well i woke up yesterday morning 24th to be greeted by both frt wheels being buried well up into the arches @Frank ( Sunnyside ) and thank you for the warm welcome Frank
Yesterday i had the day off to recover from being had over by the seller who is not replying to calls etc
Like you said Frank expect a few problems for that money so time to lick my wounds and just get on with it now
Right then trying to find the source of the leak will be my first point of call ,,then decide on the plane on how to go about the fix and move on to the next faux pas ?
@Johnny Hotspur GT Seems to really know whats going on with these works of art so i would most welcome if anyone can advise how to go about it in the correct manner I timed the drop and its around 5-hours and not an instant drop when the cars turned off..Also there seems to be a wirling noise that goes on for a while after you exit the car coming from the engine bay ...And yes i dont have a clue about that either...Anyone wanna buy a Bentley 2005
bearing in mind im 76 and dont have access to a ramp ot the moment..Im ok on the spanners but as this is my first time even sitting in a bentley be kind to me Lads
At the moment i dont have a clue what buttons do what and im a completely lost but my only hope is there are enough ticks left on my clock to bring this one back to life
Which is starting to look like a very very long time

So wheres my brandy bottle gone as i really need it today
I am in the right place though best Forum in the world from what i have seen on here already and a good bunch of lads
Everyone have a great day and all cash donations accepted i need all the help i can get

Remember it might have a Bentley badge on it, but it's only VW Audi underneath.
Not much difference in any big luxury car tbh.
I'm sure you will be fine and as the car was cheep you have some spare cash to put into it and still not feel ripped off.

Hello @scrinja ,
Welcome to 6speedonline !

As to all the buttons, they will become self relevant as you play with each on the Infotainment head unit, the 4 buttons down each side of the screen coincide with different functions of each button below, like NAVI, AC, AUDIO, PHONE, ETC.

Now to real issue, the front struts, please be sure to check both the top and bottom of each front strut, use a soapy water spray bottle, be sure to put the vehicle in LIFT MODE, then JACK MODE, if using ramps to drive up on fine, BUT, if jacking up the front end and using jack stands, be sure to put jack stands under each front lower control arms, as you do not want the front wheels hanging down, you want pressure on the suspension just as if it were on the ground, because, if the wheels hang, you will not find the leak via bubbles as not enough pressure in the strut air bladders if they hang.

Also spray the air inlet line/brass fitting area at each strut.

If no leaks up front, be sure to check the lines at the rear at the valve block, spray the whole valve block to check for bubbles, you will have the remove the rear belly pan to gain access to the suspension compressor and valve block.

Hello @scrinja ,
Yes, there is only one suspension compressor to deal with.

As per your previous comment, I take "legs" to mean struts, and as to "zongzhu", I have no idea, I would recommend Areosus for struts or strut kits, as with arenot you must be careful, as their "remanufactured" struts are not remanufactured in my opinion, nor by the definition of the word, they are rebuilt, therefore only fixing what is damaged, that being, the air bladder/bag on the strut itself, therefore you could end up with someone else's higher mileage strut, as to arenot's "New in house design" struts, for quite some time they claimed that their "new" struts were 100% as original OEM design, meaning, that they had the electronic valve dampening built in just as the factory design, well, after many phone calls and conversations, it came to light that they had placed as resistor in the "new" struts to fool the suspension control module in the vehicle, and in my opinion, to fool the customer, as a stand alone resistor to plug into each strut plug on the vehicle side would have sufficed, but to hide it in each strut and make each strut look factory, that doesn't fly with me, nor did their explanation later on that they did it to keep the cost down, as their new design had a fixed dampening valve, not the variable such as factory, and they weren't that cheap.

For full transparency, I have no dealings with Areosus as to any purchases, only phone calls to get specific details as to their products, as far as location of manufacturing, warranty, etc.

Others here have dealt with Areosus, and I have not read one complaint here, unlike the complaints of arenot or RMT.

Johnny

Thank you Johnny for your time and trouble you have given me and alot of others on this great forum
also i would be lost if it wasnt for you and the information i was so desperate to get ahold of from one who knows his stuff on the Contineltal GT
Everything has been taken on board @Johnny Hotspur GT so ive got quite abit to get on with now
Ive just been out in the dark and rain here in the UK Battery totally goosed i now know how to access the rear boot after the battery has gone totally flat.and jump it
So im getting there slowly but surely with all the help
When anything new arises i will post on my Journey.here im thinking there will be alot of it from bodywork to spanners to electrics
Thanks again Johnny
I now know what struts im buying should they be required interesting reading Johnny
To be honest about things ..Thats why i like to do all my own servicing and repairs if possible i know whats been done and it gets done properly i know evryone is not comfortable on the spanners but get the info take your time and at the end of the day its only nuts and bolts and if it dont work out for you off to the dealers....Have a go

In the UK motor trade people are either in the motor game or in Jail ....Why is it some people just cant wait to get into your pocket or rip you off
Greetings all from the UK

@scrinja ,
Please be very careful using any jumper box on the GT, she is very sensitive, and will not act accordingly to improper power or surge..

Always best to give a slow low amperage charge, than a high amperage jump.

Hi Johnny thanks for that yes i gathered that its a sensative car to work on so a large battery was just hooked up to it for an a hour while we had a few cups of tea
Then started no harm done
Its on trickle now as im writting this and the battery problem is just another brick in the wall at the moment ? Starter battery is fine will see later the state the other one is in
@Johnny Hotspur GT
What happens if your out on the road in the Bentley and this happens to you guys ! The missus is on your case.your all on the side of the road, and the kids are screaming at 11-30 at night Youve done your money and you have £20 quid left in your pocket ...Answers below.....Its not in the Bentley Owners Manual by the way

Now the battery is also suspect im starting to regret its purchase even though it is one hell of a motor car to look at and drive i do love it
In hindsight i would have walked away from this one im afraid ..I will get it somewhere near funds allowing...these older Bentleys are always going to cost you for the pleasure of ownwership

I will admit im bitten by the bug so funds allowing it will get there eventually its a challenge and i do enjoy messing around with motas

One day at a time eh
