Flying Spur...Q&A

Hows the maintence on the Flying Spur? Any major defects that I should look out for before buying one? Electrical problems? Anyone use it in a Chicago winter (AWD any good)?

I have test driven it and I know it is a great machine, just want to be sure it doesn't fall apart on me before 'Im all in'.

I have not heard of any maintenance issues on this vehicle. However, it is the same engine as the VW Phaeton W12, so I imagine any issues would be shared. I can attest that the interior is first rate, from the grain of the wood to the stitch of the leather, and the trunk is HUGE.

Understood it has the same engine but twin turbos. And yes the trunk is freakin huge (fit like 4 bodies in there). Is oil consumption an issue for this car?

IMO, oil consumption is an issue on a lot of cars for the first few thousand miles while the car is adjusting to your driving style and how hard the engine has to work. I have an MB S600, and it's V12 does not burn oil excessively.

Should I get the car used or new then? Dont have to worry about 'breaking it in' and I get a little money back.

Well, the flying spur was only introduced this year as a 2006 model, If I were you, I would either purchase a slightly pre-owned flying spur or a new MB S65. Obviously dependent on your reason for purchase.

My brother has one, he already put 8k miles in 3 months, oil consumption for that time period is 1,5 qts. The AWD should be great its VW/Audi's, he plans on driving his in the winter, you should get snow tires 4 sure. We are also in the Chi town area. The car is freaking awesome, best luxury car out there, besides the Maybach which he also considered before getting the FS.
Gripes:
****ty place for cupholders, non DVD navigation, no Satelite radio, all small things but should be in a vehicle that costs this much.
Other than these minute things car is AWESOME. Tons of room front or back. Yes the trunk can fit 5 bodies of smaller structure.

You wont regret getting it. Easy to drive everyday expect to get ALOT of looks on the road from motorists and expect to get cutoff ALOT as well, normal Chicago crap.

Good Luck,

Bajo

Luxury Motors, I like them, I have bought from them before. They got good turn over so they can give people good deals and no pressure. Foley has a new dealership next to the cadillac in Northbrook(near lake cook and skokie road) right? Looks nice but I have never been in.
